A few weeks ago the horn when lightly pressed on the right side stopped working. I tried the same on the left side and it was working fine. As I said, I use the horn very soft and light and past six years its been fine. I took my car to the workshop in Delhi and the technician tried fiddling with the contacts inside, but didn't succeed. Finally as expected the worst nightmare happened. They said the unit will need replacement as it cannot be repaired. Cost INR 23,000. Anyone any clue whether a DIY will fix it and any guidance as to how?

Sometimes it is because of the sulfating i.e rusting of copper connectors present in the Hornpad. It happens especially if the car stays idle for a few weeks in humid condition. The same problem happened to my linea last year. But after cleaning of those copper connectors the problem was gone. The problem resurfaces if the vehicle is idle as its rusting which keeps coming back. Now a days whenever the problem appears i use to vibrate the horpad vigorously with my palm to get rid of the rusting. It helps in making electrical contacts and the problem goes away.
