Honda Brio Amaze: Thin wall Diesel engine

Discussion in 'Non FIAT Cars and two wheelers' started by Sat-Chit-ananda, Nov 21, 2012.

  1. ^^ Why Diesel folks are much more stress proof or totally immune to it , where they don't suffer in B2B traffic?

@sat its all about getting used to the car :) after owning MJD for more than a month, I feel the car is breeze to drive and hassle free ;)

1.5 L 100 PS & 200nm torque. Nothing special atleast not in specs.

Launch it soon Honda waiting to drive a honda diesel. I hope it's as refined as their petrol engines and happy to revv too.

Guys, the official ACI and OD first drive report are out!!!

And guess what, according ACI, Amaze, hits the ton in 12.47 seconds!!! And even their review looks promising!

I think Honda has got a winner here! And pretty sure, it's going to eat up City's sales! And guess what, Dzire is definitely going to get a big hit from Amaze!

Nope. ACI says, it's not like MJD's. Not revv free engines. Honda have tuned it to Indian driving style, which they have presumed to be sedate!

Being under 4 metres in length the Amaze has engine options that match to take advantage of excise duty regulations for small cars. The Brio's 1.2 litre petrol unit gets carried over and puts out around 90PS and 109Nm. Considering the Amaze's lightweight construction, it should be good enough for peppy runs in the city while returning decent fuel efficiency as well. Honda claims a 0-100km/h time of a little over 13 seconds with the petrol powerplant.

The more interesting engine though is the 1.5 litre diesel engine - a first for Honda and on paper, a very impressive motor indeed. With 100PS and 208Nm on tap, the Amaze diesel will power up to 100km/h in about 12.5 seconds.

What's even more interesting is that the ARAI rated fuel efficiency stands at a staggering 25.8kmpl making the Amaze the most efficient car available in India.

    • Diesel isn't as high-rpm friendly as the 1.3L MJD
1.5L diesel weighs 152 kgs. Lightest diesel engine compared to those with similar power ratings. It's heavier than the 1.3L MJD though (~130 kilos)

  7. ^^ if the IDTEC engine is 20 Kg more than MJD , what is all the fuss about thin wall etc etc?

It is being marketed as if they have now made world's best Diesel Engine. Even if this is true, how can one make judgement on this engine even before the launch?
  9. man, Fiat needs to learn how to create a hype about a product, look at the news created by Honda and Ford, may be Fiat's budget is small for advertisements.

Though one must admit, Honda always tries to define the segment! And they know exactly what to advertise & what people are looking out for! in this case FE. Most people aren't bothered about engine specs, handling etc! Also for most people Electronic Steering means "More Advanced & Better than Hydraulic".

these are the cars which are people friendly & deliver on what most are looking for.... but they aren't driver's car!
