let me very plain and honest.
Both you and your friend are correct.About the spares availability and service he is completely correct.Especially as you are also from Chennai,I can vouch for the same and just check at any T.A.S.S for the avialablity of even some basic spare like air filter, clutch plate,(even at the sales point you can ask them to show them in the system),you will get an immediate reply that spares are not avialable since it's a Fiat car and they wouldn't even check for the stock and would not even place order unless you write to the Fiat CEO.Quality of service is simply pathetic and unacceptable.
About your view that it's a dream car, yup, even that is true. There is no other car under 10l that gives you everything like a carpet ride, responsive steering, crispy brakes, classy looks, tank like build, etc, etc all in one.
So,what will be my suggestion???.Just go for it,forget about everything else, the comfort that the car gives is just unmatched and uncomparable,so that it will make you forget about spares, service and resale value.
Don't buy a Figo and keep saying that you have made a mistake when ever a beautiful Punto passes you.
In all matters in life, listen to the heart more than the brain!

I meant Maruti Authorised Service Center. Specifically, I meant that handing over the car and picking it up is far easier with Maruti. With a 10 am appointment, I would usually be out by 10.30. For picking up, invoice would be ready within 15 mins of me reaching. Compared to that at the Tata ASC, even with a 9.30 am appointment it's usually 11 am by the time I am out. It takes a good 45 mins to get the invoice & gate pass ready when I go to pick up the car.

Getting an appointment after a few day's is news to me. With my SX4, usually I would get a confirmed appointment for next day or maybe the day after. With Fiat, it's minimum a week. For the suspension change, I was given an appointment after 9 day's even after specifying that the car needs a repair job and not service. When the car went on the day it was called for, my colleague was told you have no appointment! For a 11 am appointment, he was out job card in hand at 2 pm!

I no longer go to give my Punto for service. It's just too much of a hassle & there is always a dis organised feel at the service center. All I see is Service Advisor's walking about aimlessly but trying to show they are very busy while customer's wait to hand over / pick up their car's service books / job card's in hand! Everyone seems to be running around like chickens without head's but they are actually doing nothing.

Though I agree with most of your comments, above looks just your personal experience.

I also own Maruti and service quality is exactly same, the technician knowledge is similar in both places. All depends how to keep your relationship with ASS, both places you might be in same situation, most of the time.

And taking appointment in Bangalore for few days later in not an issue. Also, for any smaller issue you can directly drive to service station (you may have to wait in case queue is longer).

GP comes with 2 years standard Warranty. And 2 more years of extended warranty. Usually, the extended warranty is offered free of cost. You need to check this with your SA.

I don't no why you guys are facing so many problems with Tata ASS. Here in Concorde almost 80% of the required spares are available on time and system works pretty well. It won't take more than 15-20 mins to handover the vehicle and get the gate pass.Regarding the unavailability of spares , it happens with all the manufacturers. I remember for my friend's zen RH mirror was not available readily in Suraksha, Now tell me about the spares availability of Maruti? They can't even stock a simple mirror also!!

No manufacturer is good in India to provide perfect and hassle free service. If we feel TASS is bad, then Maruti and Hyundai A.S.S is also equally bad.

Lets end our discussion on Maruti vs Tata A.S.S here and help Sundar understand better about Fiat car please. :).

After reading through the above posts, I feel we cannot generalize the experience across any MASS, HASS or TASS.

I don't have any experience with MASS, but have been through both Hyundai and Tata.
With TASS, I can be out with in 20-30 mins after delivery. Usually I drop in around 9:00-9:15AM and I am out latest by 9:40AM. This is the experience with MM, but at KM it usually takes longer because of the rush there.
Taking delivery depends on how you time it. Unless the car is held up at the washing line in MM, I can be out within 30mins.

With Hyundai, my experience was mixed. Some times I could be out within 30mins, some times it took over an hour

Let me give my two inches. With Maruti Service centres, the positive is that you can always find one close enough. But i believe the positive ends there, even though that's a big positive. I have been made to wait for even hours till i can handover the car to a service guy. It has been the same to me with Popular, Sai and AVG Motors, be it in Kochi, Perumbavoor, Thrisur or Thiruvalla. And when they promise to deliver the car by 4 in the afternoon, mostly i get the car by around 6.30. Even the billing is damn too slow with Maruti ASS. I have instances of my accessories and tools being stolen, quite a number of times. I have complained the same to Maruti regional heads, but to no avail. Feedback forms are not given due respect by Maruti higher ups, it seems. For me, the ONLY positive with MASS was that i could always find one, wherever i went, which was a relief.
