One more point I would like to bring out is the front seat travel is more in Punto & that is the reason why when the Front seat is pulled back to the maximum, it really feels cramped especially for tall persons. The rear seats are having better leg support also in Punto & hence the seats are bit more wider too. These two factors constitute to the lower leg room.

When we say that the rear legroom is not great in Punto. Its also imperative to compare it with other hatches in the market too. Only the following hatches have better rear legroom than Punto.
Jazz, Indica Vista, Liva and Fabia.

Rear legroom of i20 is on par with Punto. Other hatches have less legroom than Punto (Swift, Figo, Polo, Micra, Pulse, etc).

In most of the review people comment i20 and figo are the leaders in the rear leg room the category (ofcourse Indica also)

Few more reasons why rear room is cramped:

    - The dash is bigger in comparision to other cars. Purely from what I see.
    - The steering coloumn protudes way into the cabin. I don't understand why Fiat made the steering so far into the cabin.
    - The boot space is probably more then other hatch backs.

If we look at boot space of various cars we will get a better idea of how much bigger the Punto's boot is. Problem is all European cars have limited leg room because in Europe the rear seats are hardly ever occupied and when they are it's mostly children sitting there.

Sundar, please also note that the Punto is the only hatcback in India to give you a metal seat back. Great for safety.

As for power & performance, except for the Linea T-Jet, no other current Fiat is a performance car today.

Amit, Punto 1.4 is a good performance car. Never disappoint once cross 3000rpm.

The protruding steering may be to give appropriate caster angle which is essential for better driving feedback. Jazz has compromised on front and given that extra space to back.
Fabia is longer than Punto. Vista has compromised the boot for legroom.

Figo, a leader in rear leg room space is a joke. From where did you get know or who's review tell that i20 and Figo are leaders in Rear leg room space?

Look at the below post from one of the reviewer in another forum. You can see the comparative pictures on rear leg room between i20 and Punto.

If you like Figo, you should go ahead and buy one. It is a good car. But, not a comparison to Punto at all. I hate this comparison again and again happening on this thread.

Did anyone watched CNB on 4th March, where they compared petrol hatchback's. Comparision started only with New Swift and Jazz, and finally voted for PUNTO 1.4 for its sprotyness (only next to Polo 1.6), features, ride and handling, comfort and pricing, was really surprised.
