I too get these done from Thyrocare, but my tests return normal. Maybe I will try changing labs next time, just to see if there is any big deviation in readings.

Also, I think Bala would happily help you out, but personal consultation with some family physician or specialist if need be will be needed. So saving doctor bills may not happen. :) Maybe Bala should be contemplating of online consultation charges now that you hinted at it. ::D

Yes Kiran, not 6 hours, I would recommend 8 hours of sleep to stay healthy.
But sleep is at a premium for most of the population these days.
Happy to note that your results were normal, but still I doubt the triglyceride level, get it cross checked.

I think a test called as Coronary Risk Factors and HBA1C for diabetes offers a more accurate idea or risk assessment for heart and diabetes conditions. Your views needed Bala.

Well ask the patients to buy to digital self-inflating bp kits and show the readings. Tongue can be checked online and also you could sell some apparatus like these including pulse monitors etc. while at it.

Just saw this thread. And its already 5 page long. :)

These days most of the info is qlready there on the internet. While a doctor has to keep up with n number of medicines and diseases, an educated patient already comes with a PhD on the symptoms he/she is facing. :) Its a good initiative to discuss health related topics here.

I am sorry I have not read the whole 5 pages. I would like to share a few things here that came to my mind while I was reading the posts in a hurry.

Man is an animal on this planet ofcourse but his habits nowadays are far from what nature expected them to have. Call them the side effects of being intelligent beings afterall.

Education is meant to improve our standards of living but we humans do it at the cost of our health. In our busy lives, we have omitted exercise from our daily routine. Whatever little free time we have is spent on taking some rest or browsing the internet.

Diet and exercise are the two important components that are routinely ignored. These two can help a lot in preventing and/or controlling the lifestyle diseases.

Bala sir is correct when he says that organ damage in lifetsyle diseases like diabetes cant be prevented by medicines or exercise and diet. This is what the reference medical literature says. But in these diseases, there are so many factors (attributable to patients, environment etc) that there is no reference set of Dos and Donts applicable to everyone. Lifestyle modifications surely help at all stages in disease prevention and control.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents regarding the importance of lifestyle modifications in todayz world.

Bala, eating raw is best to get all the nutrients, but not all veggies are fit to be eaten raw, so a little cooking or steaming helps to soften the food. When you cook on the stove, destruction of nutrients is limited to what gets destroyed at 100 degrees which is the boiling point of water, whereas when you microwave, the temps go to dizzying levels and it alters the food itself.
The same goes with using pressure cooker. The temp inside a pressure cooker goes upto 600 degrees and similarly destroys nutients. So what we will eat after this cooking is actually a waste. Why spend time and money to buy something good and employ technology to make a waste of it. eg. Anything which is quick is actually less satisfying:) Periods called gestation , brewing,curing,...etc are for real. You hasten process at your peril

Just go to the Cardiology op,say I was overweight and please do a complete master up with echo, ecg and treadmill test. You can tell a small lie that you get chest pain.
Abdul,I got your point but eating vegetables raw these days is also dangerous with pesticides risk.

    Good thread.

    1. Being a vegetarian, teetotaler and non-smoker help a lot in maintaining good health.

    2. Starting a day by drinking a lot of water in an empty stomach that results in flushing out all the toxins accumulated overnight is good for health.

    3. A clove of garlic a day keeps the doctor away. Added benefit: it keeps others also away! ;)

    4. A simple walking for one hour a day for atleast five times in a week refreshes the mind and drives away the depressive mood.

    5. Completing the dinner a few hours before the sleep [say by 7:30 pm] ensures rest for digestive parts during the sleep.

I have been following all the above for many years; I am happy and healthy. :)
