    Folks,
Recently, I was involved in the physical training of 51 cadets of a Security firm.
These cadets will go on to be appointed as Security Officers.

They had two male and one female trainer.
My involvement was to guide these three trainers.
For this, I visited them once a month and, at other times, I was available to them on the phone/email/sms etc.

To assess the changes in the body composition of the cadets, I chose the skinfold measurement method.
This method does not give the exact numbers of body composition, but it's numbers help in identifying a trend of changes in body composition.
(Look up 'skinfold measurement for Body Composition')
Also, look up 'Importance of Body Comp'.

    Attached is an Excel file.
    Take a look at it.

In the bottom left you will find two tabs.
One is for Body Fat Comparison i.e. Skinfold Measurements.
The other is for Body Weight Comparison.

There are a total of 51 names given in alphabetical order.
The names highlighted in yellow, are the nine female cadets.
The age group of cadets was 20 to 24 years.

The skinfold measurements were taken with calipers.
These skinfold measurements were taken at four sites on the bodies.
The sites were abdomen (horizontal fold), thigh (vertical fold), triceps (vertical fold) and midaxillary (vertical fold).

The skinfold measurements were taken once a month, over five months – in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and March (2015-16).
That's an intervening period of four months (from the November 15 reading to the March 16 reading).
The body weight was taken over six months, in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and March.

To minimize variations, the lady instructor took all the measurements for all the females.
And one designated male instructor took all the measurements for all the males.

In general, you will notice a drop in skinfold measurements in all cases.
    (This indicates fat loss.)
And, despite this, you will notice that the body weight is maintained.
    (This indicates muscle gain.)

About eleven of them lost some weight - shaded in red.
And, about seven actually gained some weight - shaded in green.
Small variations of one or two kilos of gain/loss, over a period of five/six months can be ignored.

The cadets had no access to any gym.
So, only body-weight exercises had to be done.

They all ate their meals in a common dining hall – food cooked by a contractor in a common kitchen.
So, there could not be any personalized diet and no food supplements.

Of course, I helped them design a daily food menu - within their constraints regarding money allotted for this purpose.
