GRANDE PUNTO EMOTION PETROL 2009: BLAUPUNKT STEREO WON'T POWER UP!

Hello friends, I have a FIAT Grande Punto Emotion Petrol 1.4 2009 model and have tried to maintain it in pristine condition since I bought it in 2010. It is single hand driven.

So far things were alright, but since the time all service centres closed in my area (Indirapuram/Noida), I am having to depend on the one mechanic who used to take care of my car when he worked at Kashyap Auto, Noida. That mechanic is now working privately with some non-authorised service centre in NOIDA.

I would like some help / suggestion with a specific problem.

This week, after many months, I gave him the car to service it and also to rectify a problem with the gear lever which was quite hard and jammed, probably due to lack of use, as I was out of the country for two years. He rectified it with some part replacement and it is very smooth now.

Only one electrical problem was there with the reverse beep not working at times, which I asked him to rectify.

However, after he returned the car to me, the very next morning I was not able to power the radio on, and also couldn't hear anything on the phone through Blue&Me. But I could see that the Blue&Me is working properly, WITHOUT SOUND.

I sent the car back to him with my driver and after a while he reported that the radio / stereo unit needs replacing. I may be wrong but I got a feeling that he is trying to make some money by selling me an after-market unit. He was talking of about Rs. 20,000/- for a used radio. I checked at 99rpm and the price is Rs. 50,000/-!!

I was shocked and I am still not able to believe that the stereo has conked out. I believe there could be a wiring or fuse issue. However, all fuses in the dashboard and under the hood were checked and found ok.

I just read on the Fiat Forum that there is a 10A fuse on the rear of the Blaupunkt unit which might be blown. I asked the mechanic and he said there is no such fuse behind the unit. But when I checked the pinout diagrams on the internet, almost all models I checked, had the fuse. A sample is attached.

Can anyone throw some light on this issue, or suggest something? Problem is worse because I just came home all the way from Lucknow just for a week and having to return to work in a few days. Of course there is the headset option with my phone, but I am not happy with the car crippled for no reason.

I understand that your problem is with Head Unit, rather than Blue&Me.

There are multiple options

1. Check with local ICE guy than workshop guy.
ICE guy may be better in electricals and can give a better opinion about the fuses or other internals of Head Unit. Or may be able to test the HU independently.

2. Source a HU from scrap market, directly.

3. If indeed, you have to replace the HU, reputed new aftermarket units are available at less than 20,000Rs, which supports Android Auto and Apple Car play. Ex, Sony - AX series. This will make your Blue&Me redundant.
There are workarounds to get the steering wheel controls to work too.

As I said my Blaupunkt Stereo Radio for Fiat Grande Punto Emotion Pack with Blue&Me Petrol 1.4 2009 manufacture has gone defective and the service centre is unable to repair. It appears that I will have to buy a new one, just to retain the Blue & Me feature intact.


I was trying to buy online from 99rpm.com website but I noticed that the model of my car being Emotion Pack top model of that year, the Fiat Nr. printed on the side is 735 485 945 0. However, the model for Vehicle withBlue&Me that is advertised on their website has a difference of one digit: 735 485 946. Also there’s no zero at the end.

They are seling two model of Blaupunkt - one for vehicles with Blue&Me and the other for vehicles without Blue&Me. The former costs about Rs 48k which I’m not sure whether it includes price of Blue & Me or not.

I am attaching photos of my existing stereo.

I’m now completely lost on this matter.

If 99rpm does not list an item, then it is not included in the price.
You can also contact 99rpm through the provided e-mail. They were pretty responsive.

48K for a new head unit is lot of money. I would do that only when all other options are exhausted.
I would buy a new aftermarket head unit and get the steering controls working at a far lesser price, if at all I have to go for a new one.

Hi thanks for your timely message. I’m right now sitting in an accessories shop trying to get the Sony XAV-AX5000 system. For some reason they are finding it difficult to make the steering control working with the system.

Yes, the steering mounted controls can be made to work.
Please give an extensive search in the forums. I have seen the below 2 threads. However, they link back to teamfiat.co.in times. Site has been changed to .com.
