Thanks Abdul, nice info, shall try out next time.
Even Barbaque factory present there is rechristened 400F, I believe,it was a decent place, though they intentionally add extra spice so that the customer would not ask for a second helping:(
What happened to the tests? !, I know that they would have been given a miss :(

It is in Radhakrishnan Salai but not in Kotturpuram, the area is Gopalapuram. It's just after Copper Chimney and I think next to MRF tyredrome. They have valet parking which I used and there is also parking below the flyover or in the by lane's if you want o park yourself. And it's called "Zaica", doctor :).

Asif and brothers biriyani centre, police station road,Alandur(not the one on NH).
This was probably the first time I got stomach pain immediately after i had food.
Food was very oily, spicy and full of colouring agent.
Only peas pulav and shahi panneer could be given pass mark, but these would be good even if I make.
Non vegetarian spread looked better,5 starters and a sizzler, but what is the point if there was no quality and food served is like street food.
    Dessert section was a disaster.
At 650 rs,this buffet is a must avoid, atleast for vegetarians
    0 out of 5 stars.

Hmm, @Bala so you went to a Biryani Center of one Asif mian and bandhus to have a vegan diet... :p:D
Why am I not suprised by your findings.. ? Out here in Mumbai it is very rare that someone asks for a vegan diet at a Biryani Center. ;)

Lol,simpleson, every hotel has to accomodate vegeterians too.
What you said was true,at. 8.45pm,I was the first person to even open the vegetarian spread!
My point was that they could make the same food with less oil, spices and colouring agents.
Lol,I know, vegetarians going to a biriyani center would be like satyajit ray fans walking into a Salman movie.

You are right. The coloring agent always puts me in a fix. I cannot be too sure if that is Kashmiri Mirch (just for colour) or some food colour. Out here there is a famous chain called as Borivali Biryani Center aka BBC. Named after a western suburb in Mumbai. These guys are also notorious to put that thing in food. The colour takes a lot of washing if you get it on hand and worst if on clothing and I am not even going to start on what health benefits it has..

Nowadays, any restaurant that does reasonably well in his first outlet thinks of immediately spreading around. The truth is that the first outlet does well for the taste that was dished out by the master chef of the outlet and his hand will not be there in the next branch. I used to be impressed by the taste of Mutton Rogan Josh at Zaitoon , annanagar, but not dissapointed at other outlets. The same cannot be replicated at other outlets unless it has a central kitchen. Also the wrong notion that oily and spicy means richness and taste. Many of them get away with many outlets by locating at places of floating population.

True @jumu, a very recent experience of such a nature was with Five Spice, Andheri at Mumbai. At first we were blown away by the food offered there (in the name of chinese, mongolian food ;)). I don't know what happened to these people a few months later and experience was horrendous, be it food or service. I kept wondering if the chef or specialist was out on leave or left job or was transferred to another branch in their chain. Anyways, I am thinking the rate of attrition (given the increased cost of living in Mumbai) is one of the reasons such experts are gone or poached and leave so many of their regular customers at mercy of others for that Wow taste (secret recipe); sometimes forever.

Guys, happened to read this thread today only as there was a new posting.
It was fantastic, hilarious, informative and humane( courtesy Dr.Bala).
In fact I was taken aback and humbled by Dr.Bala's brutally honest assertion that medical practice is a business.
I like to vouch that its 17 yrs since I am working in medical field as ,Medical Businesses Executive or simply put Medical Rep(Gsk) and the number of Doctors whom are as honest as Dr.Bala are less than the fingers you have in your body.
My respect to Dr.Bala has hit the stratosphere and its a real previlage to be on a forum which has such honest souls.
Coming to my experience at Chennai eateries, since most of the times our meetings are held at Hotel Accord Metropolitan and because of our Regional Manager's bargaining skills we have break fast and Lunch in the package.
The food is the best one ,among all the star hotels like,Residency,GRT ,Residency Towers etc.
The veg food especially, lunch is great.I am sure, non veg also is great as I find my colleagues filling there plates to brim.I am veg, so cannot give my personal experience.
Once we had meeting at Rain Tree, Mount Road and it comes close to Accord Metropolitan in terms of taste.
Because of the proximity to Sathyam and Escape ( I watch movies in theatres only when I visit Chennai, latest being Interstellar, mind blowing experience) I stay at Hotel Balan in Royapettah. I have dinner at Hotel RajBhavan, near to Police station.
The food is OK, recently they also started mini break fast @ 55 rs which was great VFM.
Coming to Kuppanna, Its basically from Erode and I normally take people there if they like to have the best non- veg food and like Dr.Bala, I would be the only person having a veg food.
