    Hello fellow Fiatians,
I have been wanting a install new set of speakers in my Punto for quiet a while now. But, I am totally naive when it comes to this. Was going through some of the posts here, and I can say this - you guys are Gurus!

I was able to grasp a lot of it but sometimes the jargon still confuse me. I bumped into this really great and detailed article on car audio. I am sure there are a lot of people who need to be shown the light. So here it is guys -

After listening to the music system in my brothers Figo I have decided to upgrade my speakers (only). I need to hear the base guitar better with lots of bass. I have come across this from Sony :
    http://www.sony.co.in/product/xs-gt16412

JBL has only 6.5" speakers which I believe will be difficult to suit the current speaker slot. AFAIK GP speakers are 6.25", please correct me if I am wrong. Any suggestions or pointers (above 200W ) for other brands which can replace the stock speakers are welcome.

Just now walked into Car Palace, saw a model from Kenwood 260W which costs 2400/- another from Polk which is 190W and costs 4500/-.I told the guy that the current speakers are 20W so I wanted to upgrade them. Now he has a strange opinion "The company has put in 20W speaker because the HU support max of 30W". I was surprise and just walked out. Now I am a bit confused too. What is the max rating our HU supports. Will a 200W speaker make huge difference from the current 20W ones?

HI, if you are using the OE Head Unit it doesn t have any amplifier output! and Pran is right speaker ratings are just 20 watts!!! I just wanna correct you that the speaker sizes are 5 1/4. Better go for a good quality component speakers, install them in the rear door pads and go for normal speakers in the front. Good options are Polk Audio, JBL and HERTZ. Wattage ratings are not an major issue. In my personal opinion throw out the OE HU and buy a decent stereo. :) Do only this if music is such important to you..like me< I threw out the OE HU and bought new one>
@pran-the higher wattage speakers are not recommended for the OE units.200W are good but if you want to hear the full potential of the speakers, higher quality system will be needed!!!

Thats lots of info for me for today, I am right away going to hunt for Polk, JBL and Hertz components. OE unit, well thats the only reason why my wife agreed for Emotion, but I had altogether another reason, ABS, ABS and ABS :helmet

Visited Motor Plaza just now, they quoted

Velocity components VX 130.4 for 6000/-
    Velocity coax for 3000/-
    Polk some model for 8000/-
MTX thunder some model for 6000/-
    Damping - 8000/- !!!!
That guy was against JBL and says JBL, Sony and Kenwood are starting ranges and good quality soudn comes from the above. Any suggestions pleas

Velocity is a good brand i haven t heard one of them. JBL is not a starting range product they have a wide variety unlike Sony and Kenwood, better saty from them. I strongly suggest go for Hertz or Polk audio . These are good ones.
