whatever argument is given with history and statistics, a common man like me who is least bothered about the position of Fiat as a market leader know one thing
that his or his beloved's life is most secured in Fiat vehicles than World No1 or No3. The so called market leaders are milking us. Giving us substandard products wrapped in beige and chromium.

And in India(I don't know about other places) it was Fiat which has brought advanced safety features in small car segment(Palio)
Where others were simply able to categorize their cars with rear wiper, body coloured mirror, body coloured door handles etc etc

How good is Fiat After Sales Service Support in Brazil & Turkey? From what I know, Fiat is notorious all over the world for poor after sales support so I doubt that is the only reason for Uno's strong sales in Brazil.

@Sungoa, You r right mate. But let's put ourselves in shoes of anti-FIAT too. There are some -ve aspects of FIAT too. For eg. Grande Punto, introduced 2004-2005 & still selling (a face-lifted EVO with a different Grill). They should have changed/upgraded the platform after 9 yrs like their competitors do every 2-3 yrs (sell more too as a result). Alfa 147 took 14 yrs for it's next upgrade (Giulietta). It's sedan sibling 159 is same story as well. Imagine Honda selling same old generation H-C today:mrgreen:

But & there is a big BUT, Punto/Linea with the same last gen. platform simply bests by a good margin even today. That's some talent/know-how's, isn't it? That's my tragedy as their faults are their actual strength. You look for something -ve,ultimately leads to a feat by FIAT. People having problem with A.S.S of FIAT all over world & swearing by Honda's after-sales are not lying BUT then it shouldn't sell at all."How come FIAT replaced Honda as 6th best automaker in 2009-2010". FYI Chrysler was not a part of FIAT during 2009, so FIAT did that on it's own.
Their products are at least 5 Yrs ahead of the competition, their true strength. Don't believe me, check crash rating of Grande Punto 2004 on N Cap's official site & check when it was challenged in the segment. They have made some horrible vehicles too like "Stilo" BUT they have also created something utterly BIBLICAL/BHAGWAT GEETA like "FERRARI & MASERATI". Alfa Giulietta launched in 2010 is the Safest C/C+ vehicle introduced in NCAP's history. I am keeping a close eye when BMW 3 series/Audi A3-A4/VW Golf & others surpasses that. It 2 Yrs already & still unbeatable.

Shift Linea/Punto into Suzuki/Hyundai/Honda's showroom today & they will easily be top sellers in their respective class for the next 10 Yrs. Chapter Closed!!:firey

  4. ENKI,

You are 100% right, FIAT cars seen in India in last 10 years are safer cars than their counter parts from Maruti or Hyundai.

front grill of new punto at UK looks different. It is different from our punto and punto evo. The colour is also terrific. Fiat should have brought the same here.

    Kannur, India
    Grande Punto 1.3 90 HP
    That is wierd..!!

Then why does they have such good engine, loved by all of us Indians so dearly?

Then why fiat cars feel much better than the rest in segment with better finesse ?

Then why fiat cars look exceptionally good and outstanding from rest?

Then why fiat continues to upgrade their cars regularly giving better looking ones. (not in India though)

The reason why the Palio is what it is purely stems from the situation in Brazil. Governmental regulations have forced the design.

The Grande Punto in India and in Europe are not identical. The bulk head is different amongst a number of other things. What difference to safety it makes is unclear.

Also not that the Grande Punto and Opel/Vauxhall Corsa are one and the same platform and so are the Giulietta and the Astra. Unlike in India, where the Punto has got 98pcd hubs, the European version has the GM size hubs with 100pcd.

The reason why Fiat hasn't changed the design of the Punto is because they need to drag it out as developing new platforms for increased safety cost too much money in uncertain times like we are in right now.

Fiat is known to try to use other manufacturer's resources in order of getting a free ride.

In general manufacturers do not give a hoot about increasing safety or building more economical cars. Only local governments are forcing them. Of course, when they are forced to make such improvements they turn it in to a marketing ploy. This is a cheap way of advertising.

If you want to have safe cars in India in general you will have to push your government to do so. Otherwise you only will get the spin off of what was designed for other countries under the pressure of relevant governments.

Sergio Marchionne doesn't see Europe as a priority. Why? Because it is the toughest and most demanding market in the world. And in Germany sits his biggest enemy the ADAC. The ADAC is the world's most powerful automotive club. Conducting regular crash tests the ADAC has forced many alterations of car designs and influenced legislation, which led to further stricter designs.

We have a saying that goes literally translated like this: Where is no accuser there is no judge.

I am sure there is a similar saying in India. However, this is what it boils down to.

If you go and make Fiat's life hell, then you will get a good service. If you make the unsafe car manufacturers life's hell they will change it.

Drifter, Just to sum up your points.

Fiat doesn't own Iveco, they have sold due to bankruptcy(right??)
FIAT doesn't stand up against Suzuki.
Giulietta & Astra based on same platform (both of them are sold in your country, right)?
Alto is world's best small car?
FIAT is only surviving because of it's brazil sales (which makes 9% of it's groups sale)?
FIAT's safety standards have been worst?
FIAT changed Punto's design because they were forced by some government to fit into safety/security category??
To push FIAT for making safe cars in India, our government should beat the crap out of them?
Indian consumers should also beat the crap out of FIAT with asking them whether they want to serve or not, we can have their consent later on?

Could you revisit & verify from where you are getting the above eye littering & enlightening details? thanks!

Yes. Examples are Quadrajet,DDIS, XSDE SMARTECH etc etc !!!! .
Unable to digest the above statements. May be Tata and Maruti will understand it better.
