See this news in ToI. Jeep at 15 lakhs.
After buying punto 90hp in Nov. I will buy this perfect suv in future unlike creta, huh.
I am getting a feeling that Fiat is now seriously thinking about the Indian Market at last, with this launches and plans. All the best to Fiat ! . My SUV could be round the corner in a couple of years.
Fiat has not lost faith in India operations: Kevin Flynn http://mybs.in/2Rxdc6a
I was reading this interview. I felt the same way that FCA is now very serious about Indian market, sticking to their plans.
so it does suggest that FCA is serious about Indian market and all PSEUDO-SUV'S currently in the market will run for their money once Jeep is launched in the 15 lakh bracket.
"If You determine that the best route from Point A to Point B is through a rock pile or over a mountain then you are a jeep owner"
The date mentioned is 2nd quarter of 2017! Its 2 years from now! Good that they have plans but isn't that a little too late?
By the way this pseudo SUV craze is on now, by the time this gets launched, either it will be in new peak or can happen the other way round as well. Just wish that its the former and Fiat launches this as per plan!
Anyways happy that Fiat is in news now. Looks like the marketing department had a reshuffle or something
That Jeep C SUV is ready.
First pre-production versions sighted, camo-ed, in Brazil. It is notably smaller than the Fortuner, Endeavour et al, albeit vastly superior in every way, from suspension to diesel multijet engines, if the Renegade, its slightly smaller twin, is anything to go by (judging from test drive reports in the US and Europe.)
Only a little wider than the Renegade, a bit longer: the main difference I guess between the two is of their exterior (and interior?) styling. the Renegade is Wrangler/classic Willy's-esque, while the C-SUV will apparently mimic the Grand Cherokee a good deal.
btw, Rs. 15 lakh might be, one senses, and if it isn't just a concocted number, the entry-level 4x2 version? Because it seems difficult for this SUV with the 2 litre mjd to be priced too much short of 20 lakhs? Who knows, though, yet?
Hope the AutoExpo Jeep display has this car on display! Or at least the Renegade? (The C-SUV will be first shown in Jan 2016 in the US, apparently.)
With the economies of scale born of rhd-market exports, extensive sharing esp of localized 2litre mjd engines with the Tata SUV(s) also due out in 2017, who knows about pricing? It may indeed be surprisingly good!? Undercutting the Fortuner, a 'tweener'? Positioned between the Duster/Creta/S Cross price bracket and the Fortuner one, more D1 (the expensive creta) than D2 (Fortuner).
Once the assembly line and vendor-base, supply-chain etc is well-underway, perhaps: we'll get the Renegade, too of course, but who knows maybe even the chic and cheaper(?) Fiat 500X? 2018?
A Jeep SUV at 15 lacs, wow so my dream of owning a vehicle from the stables of the iconic brand will come true finally. I hope they provide both petrol and diesel engine options; and also provide cutting edge technology
Good luck Fiat, bring them on and on-time.
PS: I have already started saving money
On second thoughts, perhaps it is not as-ready as the brazilian website claims, since the images would seem to fit the Suzuki Grand Vitara Sport (for Brazil) a bit too well?
Who knows, yet? It'll be shown in the US first, obviously, early 2016. BUT it, like the Renegade, may not be built there or even in Mexico, at all, given this huge, state of the art, and SUSW/b-wide4x4 specialising plant in Pernambuco, Brazil.
With India specialising in rhd markets, as export source for this Jeep model (+Renagade?), and also starting in 2016: the new China jv factories (the Cherokee starts localized manufacture there, also presumably for some exports, later this year.)
It would seem that's what the strategy is for these, new global-market-oriented, JEEPs. These will be by far the highest value-added cars to be exported in large numbers out of India, ever! Similar though not as much as the case for the Jeep exports out of Brazil and even China.
Not for nothing has Marchionne been emphasizing that JEEP is THE global fca brand.
I was going to say something similar- (although it may sound blasphemous to you) - that camouflaged car looks a lot like Creta !!
