Purpose built engines can output obscene numbers. No big deal there.

What is not clear is whether it has the same 2.0 displacement or increased a bit.

Because AMS are getting the Mitsubishi 2.0 4 cylinder ( displacement increased to 2.2) to produce 1142 WHEELhorsepower. The hp figure at the crank i.e. the bhp figure will be still higher. If 15

Forget wires, Chrysler has announced it will offer and industry-first, wireless charging solution in the 2013 Dodge Dart.

Helping rid the world of wires one automobile at a time, Chrysler has recently announced that the eagerly anticipated 2013

"This is turning out a gem of a car with AR platform's with features that can put D/E segment to shame. The most feature rich C-segment vehicle ever witnessed. Not only electronic/safety/comfort features but basic Architecture of world's first C-segment's Independent suspension. Turning out true value for money at the price less than that of a Cruze"

Dodge Dart will include a wireless charging mat for, yep you guessed it, wireless charging for most smartphones and MP3 players.

The Alfa Romeo-based Dart will be the first compact sedan from the Pentastar since the discontinued Dodge Neon back in 2005. On top of the Dart’s self described “dramatic design,” Dodge Charger-inspired full width rear LED taillamps, performance-focused engine, and a wealth of safety features like break assist and blind spot monitoring, the all-new Dart will offer consumers the industry’s first wireless charging solution. Customers wishing to utilize wireless charging while they drive need only opt for the $199.99 Mopar accessory.

2013-Dodge-Dart-to-feature-industry-first-wireless-charging-mat-for-mobile-devices.jpg 2013_Dodge_Dart.jpg

“At Mopar, we look for every single opportunity to make our customers’ lives easier,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “Our industry-first in-vehicle wireless charging system is the perfect solution for those connected customers who are always on the go.”

Now, technically, wireless charging has been around as a third-party option in cars for some time now. However, Chrysler has the privilege of being the first automaker to officially offer it nationwide through all its dealerships. The only caveat: it won’t come as a factory option. Meaning, if you want it, you gotta pay extra for the installation – or just do it yourself.

With such a concentrated effort on the part of automakers to enhance the driving experience with advanced HUD displays, large LCD screens, and all sorts of smartphone connectivity, it definitely makes us happy to see Chrysler implement truly convenient solutions like wireless charging technology inside our cars. Hopefully, this feature will spark a trend among other automakers and — with any luck — become an industry standard for others to follow. Either way, things are looking good for Chrysler, and it seems the Pentastar will be hitting the bulls-eye with the Dart when it’s launched later this year.

Sun, The design on paper and real time is very tricky thing. For eg. Linea's front looks just OK when seen in picture with those massive awkward headlights. But when seen in real & especially from a distance, it's worth 30-40 lacs car with ditto for Punto. If they look good in pics, they absolutely knock you out in real. Too good looking to be a budget car.
on -ve side, do you remember A star pics before displaying it in real at Auto Expo 2009?? The car in the Pics was looking like Maruti will rock India:mrgreen:. But when seen in real, it looked no where better than an Alto.

With some Italian essence, i am sure this car will absolutely leave one with disbelief of C-segment car. It is already biggest & wide in it's class, it will surely manage a D-segment car's look & AR/Maserati's sophistication that will out-count Civic/Fluidics. Just like Linea did to it's competitors in looks dept. I trust FIAT on this & will be really shocked if it doesn't happen.

On behalf of Linea owners :hit

Linea in long shot snap(caught in distance of 300 meters) with DSLR camera,rocks....!!

Sometimes when i see in my rear view mirror ,A-star looks like Ritz:devilface and when i look Ritz in rear view mirror i feel like punto::V modified with the increase in height(only front view):geek:

FIAT trust more on TATA.
FIAT is waiting when TATA sales will go down,so that atleast TATA-FIAT JV favours FIAT sales....:lol

If someone really study the design deeply, those erotic bulges & falling curves on the bonnet & rear are Alfa inspired. They are nicely curved in from Headlights towards middle of the bonnet. The grill is not copied from Audi only, that just Rally version & paint job is giving like one of audi grill but it's not. Same is recognizable in other trims easily. I think, the rear/sideways is as on par with current Linea with AR sophistication. In all, Very good looking but smashing is something that eyes can decide when seen in real. Pics are not enough.

Very true. Give it a Maserati type grill instead of the current one. Nothing else is needed to give it the D segment look( from outside).
9. Jeep all set to enter India

India has always been the land of SUV’s. Big on size, space and presence which is complimented perfectly by their ability to gobble up bad roads which make up the majority of the surfaces here in India, make them just the right vehicle for us. While we already have a horde of SUV’s here in India, we finally have the big daddy coming in. The American icon Jeep is all set to drive us SUV buffs crazy.

Part of the Chrysler group, Jeep is being brought in by Italian giant, Fiat who now owns it since the last few years. While they have a range of vehicles in their portfolio, the ones slated for India are most likely the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler.

The Grand Cherokee is now in its fourth generation and received a lot of updates for 2012. Muscle is what comes to your mind when you look at the Grand Cherokee. It’s a brilliant mix of classic styling cues and modern design. Look beyond the signature seven-slot grille, round headlamps and trapezoidal wheel arches and you’ll see thoughtful details that set Grand Cherokee apart.

The cabin follows suite with a handsome cabin with a cleanly styled dash, tight seams, high-quality materials and consistent textures from door to dash. Quality is expected to be on par if not better than its Japanese/German/Swedish rivals. Comfortable seating is courtesy the large plush seat which is designed for plus sized American. However, the only drawback is that the Grand Cherokee is offered as a five seater and not a seven. The current Grand Cherokee shares components with Mercedes-Benz's ML-Class, DaimlerChrysler owned Jeep during this vehicle's early development so its premium look and feel is no surprise.

It’s pretty loaded as well. Standard equipment includes automatic headlights, foglamps, cruise control, dual-zone air-conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack. An optional package adds keyless entry, a power driver seat (including lumbar adjustment), and a USB/iPod interface. The Security and Convenience package includes remote engine start, Bluetooth, a cargo cover, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a USB/iPod interface. A back-up camera, a power passenger seat, heated front seats, leather upholstery and a nine-speaker premium sound system with digital music storage and a touch screen interface are also available. However, what kind of equipment the Indian version gets, is yet to be seen.

While internationally, the Grand Cherokee is powered by a range of powerful V6 and V8 petrol engines, India is most likely to get only the oilburner. The 3.0 litre turbo diesel is built by VM Motori and developed together with Fiat Powertrain, company of Fiat S.p.a. At 240 PS and 550 Nm, this will pretty much be one of the most powerful SUV in the market. Fitted with new-generation, 1800 bar injectors with new MultiJet II technology, developed and patented by Fiat Powertrain, this unit is also as fuel efficient as it is powerful.

The other entrant from Jeep will be the famed and go anywhere Wrangler. While the Grand Cherokee will be the premium luxury SUV, the Wrangler will be the tough, off-road lifestyle product. In simple words the Wrangler will pretty much be a more powerful and luxurious version of the spartan Mahindra Thar. Like the Grand Cherokee, the Wrangler has been around since ages and was in fact produced by Kaiser-Jeep and then American Motors (AMC) and finally Chrysler.

The Wrangler too has received a lot of updates for the 2012 model and is pretty much in its most modern avatar yet. There are all new interiors which boast of higher-quality materials, the center stack has been redesigned, an all-new instrument panel and strategically applied sound insulation that makes this the quietest Wrangler ever.

For off road and SUV enthusiasts this is indeed a brilliant piece of news. What remains to be seen is how well are the vehicles priced. If Fiat manage to localize the assembly, then the Grand Cherokee could well be under Rs. 45 lakh making it good value. The Wrangler on the other hand will be an excellent buy if priced in the 15-20 lakh bracket. The Jeep tag was already present in India with Mahindra assembling the Willy’s Jeep decades ago and on the early Mahindra’s as well till Chrysler claimed its right over the “Jeep” trademark. But this time it’s pretty much the real deal that’s headed our way. Keep your fingers crossed and keep watching this space for more.
