So what? Anyhow they are having plans for premium segment also right?
Hyundai and Volkswagen have it. No reason why FIAT should not have it. 1.6 is the norm of the market
Besides 1.5 engines are positioned in the C (or C1) segment . Linea is clearly a C+ (or C2) segment car.
If they do bring a 1.5 lit engine that would be a disaster. Who would like their engine being compared with cars that are one segment lower?
They HAVE the engine. All they have to do is launch it.
+1. They have the engine which does produce more torque than all the 1.6 litre diesels out there even with the FGT Engine. On the latter part of launching it, FIAT is taking its own sweet time. Hopefully the Linea refresh comes in the guise of this 1.6 MJD and 1.4 Tjet in a higher state of tune, both the engines to be mated to 6 speed gearbox.
Will FIAT do this, is anybody's guess.
I completely agree with the consensus that Fiat now has the ingredients to launch the New Linea
Linea MJD felt sluggish : They have 1.6 which will put them as the leader in engine again in this segment
Linea has poor interiors : The new Linea supposedly solved this with refreshed dash and hopefully we wont see panel gaps
Fiat has bad FASS: Their main criteria with this "new move" is to have independent FASS and they are already moving. So there is no reason to believe that they are laid-back to their customers
Now what they are waiting for? may be some divine intervention to whisper in their ear to say "Launch It' :evilsmile
OT : Might be they are fearing of Maruti . Maruti can make a BIG SUV with combo of thin sheet metals + 1.6 Litre MJD .
Just Classic Linea has been launched and immidiately 1.6.
Definitely there might be something in pipe line you know what is it "Sticker edition Classic Linea" .
Rest assured that there are more than one factors restricting the launch of the 1.6 Multijet at this very moment.
FIAT India knows it needs the 1.6 and IS working on bringing it into the Indian market. It's not like they are sitting in their offices swatting flies.
Slow and steady wins the race, but that is not the case here.1.6 would surely come from fiat stable but let 1.6 get obsolete from market.when there are no takers for 1.6 then super champ fiat will come.
Except TFI members who else knows that classic linea also exist.????
By going thru spy pics in various forums, 5 speed GB is visible. So a wild guess ( I want to be wrong ) FIAT will continue with 1.3 MJD with to 95-96 PS. with little bit more torque. AS 1.6 unit comes with 6 speed GB. Common FIAT don't disappoint your fans this time. and a small feedback for you guys, even if you r bringing 1.3 again, make 5th gear long. IT help to get extra mileage on long runs. & moreover a relaxed driving experience.
May be its T-Jet version with 5 GB which we are seeing in various forums.Fingers crossed lets hope FIAT will bring 1.6 surely next year in Linea facelift as it will put Linea to compete with its rivals in performance area where its rivals 1.6 engines.Fiat should give all gears long ratio as it will relaxed driving experience & more efficiency & FIAT should also bring their Automatic Dualogic gearbox to India which is there in Brazil Punto Evo.
