Dont trust the words of Fiat India. They will only talk, they wont implement. They are always sleepers. They will never win in India

100% Right, but will Fiat do??

Autocar scoop! New Fiat compact SUV in 2016

Fiat is developing an all-new SUV (code: X3U) on the company’s modular 326 platform to directly compete with the Ford EcoSport. It is expected to come with aggressive styling, class-leading ride and handling and a new 1.5 Fiat diesel engine that will make its debut in the small SUV. The power output of the engine is not clear but it’s likely to be well over 100bhp. The X3U is also likely to get an Automated Manual Tranmission (AMT) option at a later stage.:astronaut:

Autocar in their recent 15th anniversary special issue has spoken to Fiat India and Asia-Pac folk and have been told this, along with an all-new Punto and all-new Linea (which is apparently NOT going to be called Linea but instead 'Grand Sienna') all within six months of each other starting in early 2016. The recent global five-year plan in its section on India said 2017 for the latter two, though.

And as Ravi points out, an India-made, locally manufactured and not merely assembled Jeep 'C-SUV' (the Renegade? or maybe the upcoming bigger Compass replacement that is very similar to the Renegade and Fiat 500X under the skin)

Fiat India has been preoccupied with the launch of dealers and independent ASS centres, a job that is not yet complete esp in sales and service quality standards (consistency), esp in smaller cities. BUT they are now finally moving in a bigger way with products (new Evo, and Avventura, Jeep launch by the middle of next year) ending with those launches in 2016 mentioned by Autocar.

I just hope they introduce the bigger mjd engine in 2015 itself in the new Linea (apart from supplies to Maruti?) and at least the Avventura if not the Evo.

The other BIG potential news concerning Fiat in India/APAC depends on the arbitration award in the VW-Suzuki case, with Suzuki insisting that VW sell back its 19.5% stake. FiatChrysler is sure to try and tie-up in a bigger way with Suzuki IF the arbitration goes Suzuki's way.

Let's think from a broader perspective on what Fiat has given to India in the last five years?

Linea, Punto, Refreshed Linea, Refreshed Punto, Modified Punto in the name of Avventura. So, its only revolving around 2 products and still there is nothing new from them to offer.

Where's the harm in only, merely radically refreshing class-leading, benchmark cars? ;-)

Just Kidding. But they've been slowed down by the whole seperation-from-Tata-new-dealers process. Hectic action at Fiat (including Jeep) starts now with the excellent proposition the Avventura makes, carrying on, as Autocar no less has confirmed, through to the end of 2016.

    Being a Fiat fan/enthusiast/owner just got, i cannot resist this....more INTERESTING! ;-) ;-)
