I suggest you ask Michael or when ever you visit there. They will hopefully explain the reason behind the same. Sometimes it could be more than one thing. So best to show your car and get the reason pertinent to your vehicle. Best of luck..!

Ok well this does not answer the How or What part of the question though!

But appreciate the pointer to RS guys for solution.

Was expecting possible causes or parts which can cause this.

The first post mentions ECU restart which did solve problem for few.

@u1kumar2002 Can you shed some light on what was the issue at your end or diagnosis from balaji?

I suggested name specifically for your better understanding. Infact speak to Mr. Deshmukh there and get to understand it in technical details, they will give precise info if available with them, and as a bonus you could know more probabilities not just ECU related. I hate to speculate about battery, fuel pump or injection issues or bad fuel or loss any of pressure and stuff.

    Hi..

I am sure most the members here will be aware about this features. But mentioning it for people who are not aware

    Hidden Features Punto

    Follow me head light feature:

Not most of the users know that this feature is available in Punto.

How to use or activate the same:
Once the engine is switched off and you need to use the light knob on the left (like we do for high beam) in display it will give options of "follow me light" with seconds you want it to be on.

    Tail lights:

We also have a feature in the car where we have option to keep only one side of tail lights on. (Either left or right)

    How to activate or use:
Once engine is off you need to on tail lights and use the knob to the direction for which tail lights needs to be kept on.

    I hope this helps!

Experts pls share other hidden fearures ..

    Details of my car:

    Happy and proud owner !

    Punto 90 HP 2010 model
1.35 lacs km clocked as on today.

    Happy Puntoing..

I dint go throught all of these 70 pages and I dont know if some one has corrected this mis-conception about the stock head unit having speed sensing volume control and wipers having speed sensing control.

Its actually cost cutting by Fiat!. Fiat has provided lowest power rated battery for its cars, that is 75HP and 90HP diesels which is 55AH, and petrols I dont know, others should be able to tell us if its same for 1.2L and 1.4L petrols, this battery doesnt have enough juice to cater for all the eletricals/electronics of the car at once. The alternator takes up the load when the demand is more.

I tried and tested this out, the car doesnt have to be moving, you can just keep it idling and stationary, then turn on the audio and wipers, now press the accelerator and raise the rpm to 3k or more, see the volume raising/wipers speeding up.

Earlier, swifts(75HP) used to get 65AH battery as against the 55AH in FIAT, you see the same engine, same alternator, and that car never had such issues, now the king of cost cutting maruti has gone ahead and put in 55AH battery in the newer cars.

I changed my battery to a bigger one in my punto 90HP sport too. Then voila all the sweet excitement disappeared.

Its about the auto lock of the doors at 20km/h speeds. Last week, on a special occasion, I felt this becomes active when the rpm is above 2000 and the car is moving as well.
I have to go up a steep climb (about 30 degrees) in max 5km/h speed for about 0.5 kms, when leaving my home. It is mud road and many parts of the road are broken and in very bad shape. The rains in this year has made the situation even worse. Last week, I saw one of my old friends while midway through the climb and stopped to pick him up and his 2 small children. So, 3 adults (me, mother and friend) + 2 small kids (11 years, 3 years) on board and I would move the car and it would stop soon, not able to pull with everybody. I tried thrice and the engine goes off in a few feet. Next time, my friend got down and I did not want to stall the car again. This time, I raced the car to be above 2000rpm so that I would get the turbo push, and started the car with a mild wheel spin. As soon as the car moved, the doors locked. I could successfully climb up.
So, I think it is either 20km/h or 2000+rpm and the car is moving, the auto lock would become active.

In a punto, There is a thread type of arrangement in boot, pulling which will open fuel tank lid. This can be used in case the lid unlock from driver's side goes kaput.

Thank you very much guys for enlightening me. I have a query. Is all the secret features mentioned above applicable to new Linea as well or some features are secretly removed?

Last night while Punto was stationery (with engine turned off), my son was fiddling with HU on / off volume button. All of a sudden, "CANCHECK" message appeared in HU display. MID display was fine. Turned on the engine to check for any further warning lights, but found none. Switched off the engine and checked after 15-20 mins. Everything seemed fine then. Any idea what was this message about? Is it a HU error or any other electrical error or ECU related error?
