The power windows on my 90HP Punto work for a short while after the key is out. After 3-4 minutes, it is not possible to do so though - I'm guessing they work for a minute after the key is pulled out.

 

Access to Power Windows after removing the Key is a feature available in VW Vento (polo too i guess).

@ Srini : Did you keep the PW switches pressed up/down when you put off the ignition ? like pressing Windows up/down and removing the key at the same time ? It has happened to me once when I was rolling the Driver window up. I pressed the one touch up and when the window was half the way I took the key out w.o my knowledge. But the window continued to roll up fully. But I couldn't get it again after several tries.

 

No Sridhar, I have tested this extensively. The following test i did:

Pull the ignition off - operate the windows up and down - it works for around 30 seconds
Pull the ignition off - open the door - operate the windows - does not work
Pull the ignition off - open the door - close it - operate the windows - does not work

it works only if you pull the ignition to off; operate the windows before opening your door. What I am planning to do is to test this feature for other window switches. I have done this only from driver side. Also, I have to test it by opening the other doors. Need to check if this is available only on the driver side who has the responsbility to ensure all doors are closed and locked before he gets down when stopping the car.

Will post results.

Let us know the month of your car manufacture. Mine is July'11 and it does not seem to work with June Manucatured cars.

 

Yesterday I happen to see a very surprising display on the MID. My car's odo was on 13001. I happened to see " Service at 1999 kms" . Even I am not very sure whether I have seen this exact display. I just saw Service & 1999 Kms and it soon disappeared. Maybe it disappeared when I turned on the key. But I was not able to reproduce the same thing after switching Off the engine or taking off the keys etc.

 

Yes Guru it is.. But so far I have heard people talking about getting the service reminder when there are only few hundred kms for service. Intelligent features

 

First service reminder appears when 2000Km are left, subsequent reminders appear every 200Km (i.e. 1800Km, 1600 Km...to service), Frequency of reminder increases when 200km are left.
