Old setup with 195/65/R15 is good instead of GC for both rural and smooth roads.

Which country do you live in Sir ;) No offense man, but the places that I drive at always manage to put spikes, stray objects like stones embedded in roads, both rough or smooth to punture or dent one thing or the other below the car.

Ganges, a company would issue new ground clearances, only when they are very sure that it is needed for Indian Roads, it was done on customer feedback and damages seen on the car underbelly. We are atleast a decade or two away or maybe more to enjoy the benefits of trouble free roads. I have had trouble with speed bumps and potholes with both the Siena and the Linea in a city like Mumbai, too often. In Siena's case it managed to puncture oil cooler or hit the sump to create terrible and dangerous dents. I once managed to get the Siena's engine nearly seized due to an almost invisible stone spike on road. It punctured the oil cooler part and pipe at one edge draining the whole oil within a km and half. Fortunately, I could tow it away before some serious damage could be done to the 1.7D.

On Linea the iron-guard plate needs to be straightened out at some places every 6 months with a special bar at the garage just to keep it touching the engine parts and making creaking sounds once in a while.

    Dear,
My post was inline with Yashik's post related to Punto.i drive more on worst roads than you mentioned, Yes we both belong to the same country. With stock 195 60 15, the engine used to scrape on the undulation roads as well. Now, when i changed to 195 / 65 / 15,never faced the issue of scrapping on undulation roads.

I might have touched sore nerve of your love against fiat.

Never mind if you did, you mean no harm and neither do me. It's just that my noble side wants all of us to benefit with the offerings. :) The forum is split between believers and non-believers of GC kit. And I am just crusading for what I believe is right for the Linea. Never mind if someone thinks otherwise either. Except certain benefits and facts people should not ignore is all. They will ofcourse act as they want to anyways. Good luck to all I say.

I think long back i have also read the news in papers that especially Kolhapur region Mercedes owners stopped taking out their car due to the bad roads. That was really bad news.
One should really appreciate FIAT as you mentioned, action upon customers feedback.

Yes it was a definite welcome move. The pricing was not bad either. The only bad move was to leave customers without exact idea of procedure and price. It was left to dealers. Some have paid as high as 25k for simple upgrade with 2 extra spare parts in addition to this kit.

I have now got the GC kit installed in my car. Its been 5 days now.

Initial impression - Not impressed. Ride quality has taken a severe beating.

I reserve my view for now and test the car for few more weeks and report here. If not satisfied, I may have to get back to the old magic carpet ride suspension of Linea. :)

Please don't do it. The only advantage of the higher GC I see for now is that it won't get a hit in any kind of bad road since the suspension is stiffer and higher.

Thanks for the suggestion.. I was hesitant because of the looks. But now hearing ur opinion, its better not to do it.
