I agree. They seem to age very quickly these days. Pretty soon we may just end up like the US market - Buy, Use, Throw, Buy... Quite a waste, but great for sales figures! (/sarcasm)

No. Cars really last very long in US. In most of the cases, cars are driven for at least 10+ years. Also, we Indians don't drive much as they do.

We simply cannot. We do not have the kind of roads they do. More importantly, we do not have the road manners they do :D. I mean, driving from NY to LA there would be a walk in the park as compared do driving here, say from Chennai to New Delhi.

Guys, let's save this ownership thread.

The poor thread is gasping for life and i'm putting an Oxygen mask on it by putting up this post.

Let's shift our discussions elsewhere! :)

    Ravi,

I think I figured out the mystery of this COVER item :)

It seems to be related to change of Oil Seal. COVER was there in my 60K kms service bill also along with Oil Seal change like it is there in 75K kms service bill alongwith Oil Seal change.

During 60K kms service, I was told that there is a leakage in Gear Oil & Oil Seal was to be changed. While Oil Seal cost is only Rs. 132/-, the labor was quoted as Rs. 4,500/- as I was told by Fortune that Gear Box needs to be removed and replaced. After negotiations and some "Tandav's" :) Fortune charged Rs. 2,500 labor.

When I asked TCRS during 75K kms service, SA said it's not a complex job and it just needs to be refitted. Interestingly, TCRS never charged me any labor for it.

EDIT: Sometimes after my 60K kms service, I did even bigger "Tandav" and wrote to all relevant Fiat & Tata officials about high labour charges in Mumbai. This labor charge of Oil Seal replacement was also one of the items mentioned. Tata offficials swung into action but only to reassure me that they'll look into it. If there are such huge gaps, the least I expected is Fiat (if not Tata) to call me back and get the concerned TASC refund the monies.

If I, after making so much noise and "Tandav's", end up paying like this, am sure unsuspecting customers are being made to pay more. I agree with you that there is no consistency and no standard charges/ procedures. TASCs are charging what they feel like. This results in low trust level between Customer and ASCs and may be the reasons why customers end up saying harsh words about ASCs.

I wish Fiat goes the Toyota way, where the service charges are displayed on a white board for each km service and each vehicle model, when the exclusive SC are set up

My Linea is sent to Wasan today  primarily for suspension noise (khus, khud) since GC kit was upgraded at Wasan and similar noise appeareed one month after GC kit was graded.

Another issue to be sorted out - Since y'day, the car is not starting with ingition keys intermittently. Y'day morning it did not start, needed push-start. Even today morning it did not start and needed push start. Today all kinds of messages were flashing on MID - typical battery related messages like Airbag failure etc. Even check engine message and light is coming ON and OFF intermittently. Finally, after several cranks, the car started & also check engine error disappeared.

Just have it checked, I think you changed it to Exide, that is notorious for failure.
