vahan i know that it was an unavoidable situation but the manual states that the car should not be jump started as it could damage the catalyc converter. keep that in mind for future.

Another possibility is that at TASS cabin light might have been in ON position. Since the vehicle was lying there for quite a few days the battery might have discharged.

RSA responded immediately but the mechanic took some time to come to my place. I had to call TSA twice checking whereabouts of mechanic. The mechanic was from myTVS & reached after 45 minutes by when I got the car pushed by some people & started.

Yeah. I changed OEM Battery 2-3 months back. That time also car refused to start & even after changing the battery, after 2 to 3 days the car refused to start as AC relay went kaput it seems. But the OEM battery became very weak in any case, I was told.

That's why I was reluctant to push-start the car. But, is even jump-start thro' another battery harmful?
I decided to wait for the mechanic but after 30 minutes thought of just giving it a try by pushing the car & it started very easily by pushing only a few meters.

Cabin lights in Linea switches off automatically after 20 minutes even if you forget to switch it off while alighting.

My suspicion is that the driver may have kept the Music System or other electric item ON for prolonged time. :firey:eek:

Service station guys are morons. I asked them that Fiat has advised to put rubber caps on Elastic Pads to prolong the life of Elestic Pads & whether they have put it in my Linea when the car was in workshop for 10 days. The SA did not even know:firey. I had to fire a mail and next day ggot a call to bring the car again. I refused as it's not possible to take the car there again from busy schedule and asked them to send someone home on Saturday afternoon to fit rubber caps. She said they'll send. Let's see if someone turns up.

Thanks VP for information on cabin lights. I was unaware of it.
Did the TASS guys check the alternator, another culprit for battery becoming weak.

I would say to hell with the Catalytic converter. The reason being the kind of fuel we put into the car is also suspect and such fuel can also damage the CC. In an emergency why bother about something that is underneath and is insignificant except on the day of Pollution check while we are stuck in the middle of the road. It is difficult to manouever these power steering cars without starting and it will be one hell of a try to get the car to a side while we wait for the mechanic. Might as well push, start and scoot.

Actually, TASS never came into picture:). However, after push-starting the car, while I was leaving our office premises, RSA / myTVS mechanic dropped in. He checked battery, relay everything. But after the car was started and running / idling for 5 minutes, battery / current / charge did not show any issue.

I also waited for 30 minutes like you said.

But after 30 minutes, I thought...to hell with any risk of damage, lemme push-start the car & drive off.... just as jumu said :)

Fortune charged heftily in labour costs and I was too disturbed that time that I did not even spoken to Fortune Works Manager when I went there to pick my Linea post 60K km service. This is documented in previous 4-5 pages of this thread.

After 15 days of that, AC konked off & I went to Wasan. Wasan diagnosed that rear absorbers are leaked. That time while enquiring there, I figured out that it's not Fortune whose labour costs are higher. Cost is higher across all TASS in Mumbai :(

Wasan guys did come today after my telecall. But how I wished they should not have come!!!

They fixed rubber caps on elastic pads on both the sides and stuck letter " I " in Emotion badge. Not surprisingly, they did it with feviquik which is spilled below the badge in 1 cm dia and attracted dust. I'll have to now figure out to remove it.

But biggest of them...... while opening the wiper, technician broke my windshield. Morons. Plainly stupid!!!! Wiper was not coming out easily. He put spanner under it and tried to lift it. He did not even cared to see that he plavced an edge of the spanner on the glass and jushed put pressure on it. What kind of guys are these. I just picked the car from them 10 days back getting windshield changed. Now again I have to send car for 2 days :(

i'm at my wits end and running short of adjectives, expletives. What kind of mechanics TATA recruits? And see how much cost and work they increase forthemselves.

First of all they should have put rubber caps when the car went there earlier as Fiat has advised I guess. But they did not care to do it and had to come all the way to my home to put it. Then while fixing caps worth less than Rs. 50, he broke the glass. Now they will have to work 1 day on it shelling out 5000 to 7000. And on top of that they have done a customer so much inconvience. Stupid guys. I pity TATA and Fiat.
