    Amit IMHO it will be worthwhile to go for GC upgrade. It might re-ignite the passion that seems to have gone missing :) Regarding AC, how about checking with outside TASS and then take a decision.

    VP - I have NEVER trusted any A.S.S with AC or tire related work. There are much better specialists out there who do 10x better job at 1/5th the cost.

    E.g. You could go to Royal AC (Opp. Babulnath Temple) or Ramu AC (Shere Punjab Andheri East). I can guarantee that your AC woes would be solved in 3 hours and under Rs 4000. Royal is so honest that he once actually told me it was just a simple fuse issue, even though I had given the car to him for a full AC service (estimated to be Rs 2500 for the Getz). He does not take work unnecessarily.

    Sorry to hear that.

    Nothing has been mentioned about this in periodical maintenance chart in the owner's handbook. However, for petrol version, it is mentioned that evaporation control system should be checked at 75,000 km. For diesel version, it is silent. If your Linea's AC is okay, why to service it when nothing has been mentioned in the manual?
    I think, you can go in for GC kit replacement by spending that extra money.

    I am at my wit's end.

    I asked Wasan Motors for GC upgrade kit as it says 2 rear shock absorbers are leaked.

    The cost of GC upgrade kit is Rs. 10,900.

    I obviously asked what's the labor cost. Pat came the reply Rs. 5,000/-(as expected) !!! Total cost to be Rs. 16,000 !!! Elsewhere it is much much lesser. prihir/ darshak got it done at Rajkot/ Jamnagar @ Rs. 1000 labor cost. kvk got it done in South @ Rs. 1500 labor cost.

    So, it was not Fortune Motors at fault in last service. Tata & Fiat are equally responsible for such exorbitant rates in Mumbai. Seems they are hell bent to kill Fiat in Mumbai.

    Time for niceties or dignity is over, I guess.

    FIAT seems to be just sitting up there like Gandhi ka teen bandar with eyes ears and mouth closed. WTH.

    Why 1000 in Jamnagar and 5000 in Mumbai. Is everyone a Ambani in Mumbai. :mad:

    Yeah. I'm getting into my elements now. Lots of guys would be forced to get embarassed. I promise. After a long time, just at this moment, I made up my mind to visit TASS tomorrow personally and they won't be happy tomorrow. More than TASS, I want TATA and Fiat regional service guys and top brass i.e. CEO's to answer difficult questions that I emailed them today. Feeling relieved getting back in form :)

    Yday evening Wasan SA told me that even AC work won't be completed today after 3 days. So, went to Wasan today morning to push them. After yday firing telecon and with works manager present, they straight away said AC work will be completed by evening but GC upgrade will take time.

    I wanted to see shocks leakage as just 15 days back during 60 k kms service Fortune checked everything and did not find shocks leakage. Fortune workssmanship is very good and in fact it found a small oil seal leakage in gear box. So, I was and am skeptical about shocks leak and asked guys there - SA, Works Manager and technician. All of them confidently said there is a leak and shocks oil is visible surrounding shocks clearly.

    Should I go for GC upgrade kit or wait? if there is aleak and I do not replacshocks, what worse could happen    ?

    Sent the driver and got the car back in the evening. Bill is Rs. 3198. Rs. 2000 for AC gas refill and balance for misc items and labor. Cooling coil is included in extended warranty.

    While Labour costs in Mumbai are exorbitantly higher as compared to other cities, the costs are not uniform across dealers even within Mumbai. Tata responded to my queries but still the above is still unanswered alongwith the logic how labour costs are arrived at.

    While I can understand the labour costs varying in a band of 5-10% across states, I fail to understand why they should be different within Mumbai. That will create monopoly for a few service centres. Can you share or elaboratd upon the response recd from Tata?

    The difference in labour costs in mumbai compared to othe cities is not 5-10%. Certain labour costs are 5 - 10 TIMES in Mumbai than in other cities.

    Let's wait for a couple of days to be fair.

    [/COLOR]Tried to fix the bumper chrome strip with Araldite. Though i've a great confidence in Araldite, the situation is tough. Locking clips of chrome strip are broken. And It's fixed on bumper where there is a sharp curve. Keeping fingers crossed.
