    if i remember your car has been painted for some accidental repairs. if yes then that is the bad quality of paint job.

    Nope. No stone, no damage to my knowledge. Neither is there any mark if damage was done by stone or anything.
    Also, repaint was done for bonnet. Nothing to the A-pillar. This seems like a mystery.

    oh so it was for the bonnet. really strange. but one thing is clear the paint quality of fiat is NOT upto the mark

    strange thing. but this shouldnt happen on factory painted car. its the clear coat that has lost its bond with the paint surface and is peeling off. it will go bad more and more.
    fiat is so shitty when it comes to paint quality.

    Was there any stickers removed from that area(to rule out one more possibility)?

    Karan desai, I also think that the Fiat paint quality is not up to the mark. In my Punto(red) when I see the reflections after waxing I feel the edges of objects are not sharp. Anybody has noticed it?

    No, there was no sticker applied on A pillar.

    I also think its the clear coat peeling off. Whats the solution? Should I peel it off from that loose edge about 1 cm from the A pillar body edge to prevent it going worse?
  7. get that checked by a professional or at TASS.
    think you need to get that patch repaired(treated).
    they might do something in that area for the clear coat.

    Updates

    Few Updates:

    Last Saturday, got my refund cheque from TASS for Clutch Warranty - Clutch replaced 2 months back in 45K kms service under warranty. Got the following items done during that visit:

    • Anti-rust underbody Free inspection - Never done these free inspections though its available after every 6 months (3M anti-rust I got done 1.5 yrs back), forgot every time I visited TASS earlier
    • Front Passenger door handle - Chrome used to come out, got it fixed. Also, the door lock was jammed, not opening from outside (the much feared disease). Technician opened the door panel & changed some settings, there was a small wedge like thingy which he aligned, so it seems. Its fixed & working perfect. The technicial was quite an expert in this, seems he got practised after getting it fixed in many Linea's/ Punto's. :)
    • Butyle filter under the passenger side AC vent fixed to pretect Blue & Me from AC condensation water. Its kind of 2 strips - 5-6 inches long & about 0.5 inch wide with glue on one side. Both strips are sticked somewhere arounf AC vent inside the dash.
    • While doing anti-rust free inspection, got the Engine Coating also done. First when he said Rs. 1250/- for Engine dressing with life of 6 months to 1 year, I refused. Then my driver talked 3M guy out into doing it directly without bill at Rs. 700/-. Still I was not willing to do it, looked like an hogwash to me but finally I relented. What the heck, its only Rs. 700/- and engine bay will look clean. Got it done.
    • Called the paint booth guy & shown him that patch on A-pillar from where Clear Coat or something is peeled off. He said "lacquer" has come out & the A-pillar will need to be repainted if I want to do it. There is no need as it does not look like that it will peel off more.

    TODAY'S UPDATE:

    While going to office today morning, on Worli Sea-link toll naka, the gear refused to engage. Driver tried hard but Gears were not engaging. I feared failure of clutch slave cylinder. Few people pushed the car & the gears start engaging & it became alright, so driver said. Reached the office & called TASS. He asked me to bring the car on Monday. I said I do not want to take chance as the car may break down midway & bring it today only. On the way back, driver said that though he releases the clutch fully, the car is not picking speed & revvs. Sent him to TASS. SA called & told me that the clutch seems to have burnt. I said what the heck only before 1-2 months back the clutch is replaced under warranty. He said the car will need to be left as they do not have the parts & expecting it on Monday evening. He'll talk to the manager who was on leave about this if it needs to be covered under warranty. I insisted that it should be covered as the clutch is replaced recently & its brand new clutch. Let's see.

    thats really sad vahan. by saying changed clutch do you mean a new clutch plate or just the cylinder?? the gears gave away without any signs or just went dead. my uncles mjd also had a similar problem when he was travelling from munbai to vapi. he felt the gears to be too hard. he took the car to vapi sc they did some lubrication and now it seems ok.
    hard gears, clutch seems to be haunting the image of fiat cars. i feel every car out there is prone to such failures. i am afraid it might happen to my car also. very unreliable.

    SA said Clutch is burnt & they have to replace the clutch assembly. Clutch assembly includes Clutch plate & Clutch kit.

    TASS did not have the parts. After rigorous followup they said they are procuring the parts from another TASS today & will deliver the car back tomorrow :(
