Forgot to mention 1 thing -

Today after the checkup, TASC gave me the job card & it mentioned Brake Pads need replacement !! I was like :eek::-x

I've replaced Brake Pads at 30,000 kms service & the ODO reads only 39,000 right now. In 9,000 kms Brake Pads need replacement ? I asked the guy & he still said it needs replacement. I asked a senior guy & he says that it might have worn out a bit & hence the remarks.

In any case, since last 1 week I've been seeing lots of brake dust on front alloys. Lots of. The spokes almost become black due to brake dust. Seems the replaced brake pads are of softer compound than even the earlier ones?

It looks like I'll have to change brake pads at every 15K kms service. What say?

Someone is considering my Linea's bonnet as a slate for artwork. Again, there are mild scratches all over the bonnet, like a kid has moved some not-so-sharp object all across. Thankfully I could not yet repaint the bonnet after the previous episodes of scratches.

45K kms service is approaching in 2-3 months. Bonnet repaint & Clutch hardness are the 2 things that starts the "To Do" list in this service.

Crossed 41,000 kms. 4K to go for 4th service & I guess I'll complete it in next 2 months. Somewhere in July'11, my Linea will undergo her 4th service !!

Got one of my best FE in tankful 100% in city with 100% AC ON in last tankful.

    410 kms
    36 Ltr Petrol
    FE - About 11.5 kmpl
    MID shows 12.8 kmpl
100% city in B2B traffic with AC ON 100% time.

Am thinking of serious exercising tomorrow - After a year, I might be setting out to wax my Linea. Let's see how it goes !!

    Linea Turtle Wax'ed !!!

FINALLY......... After more than a year or year & a half, my Linea tasted Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell :D

It was a Super Calorie-burning exercise (And I do not have those extra calories !!). A marathon 2.5 hours in scorching heat. I was completely drenched with sweat rolling all over (might have lost 1 Ltr water from body !!). After completing the bonnet & front fenders first, I thought of let it go. But persisted & went on to the boot. Again after completing boot, thought of leaving it but could not !

First up, some Don'ts (While there are some Don'ts which were unavoidable, there are some where I made a mistake):

    • Today being holiday & I being late-riser on holidays ;) , could start only at 11.30 am - Unavoidable
    • Did the wax polish in the open under the sun (though it was cloudy) - Unavoidable
    • Mistake-When started with Bonnet/Fenders, the Foam applicator was wet, very wet and I did not removed the excess water which I should have. So, when I was applying wax, it was not showing enough on the bonnet as it should have (earlier experiences) & I ended up applying more wax than was needed. Then the wax coat on the bonnet took longer to dry as foam was very wet. So I proceeded to both front fenders. When I buffed the Bonnet & Fenders, the dry/ haze wax refused to be wiped & it required hell of an effort
    • This time I used Microfiber cloth rather than cotton (baniyan) which I always used earlier for buffing. I guess that might be another minor reason of having required force to buff this time around.
    • Learned from the mistake, I used very small quantities of wax for all other areas of the car so that buffing won't be a challenge like bonnet.
After covering all areas, did not have strength & patience to wax the upper hood.

The artwork of scratches all over the bonnet have become lighter (lighter scratches). The deep scratches are still starkly visible. Have not wax'ed the bumpers, the difference can be seen.

And now some pics of 25 months, 41,000 km old (or new?;)) Linea.

Fantastic. She is maturing like the wine. I did the session yesterday with shampoo, swirl'x', Collinite 845 followed by 476. Although it was cloudy, the gloss was too evident on a light color. Could not take pictures as rain was imminent. Now to test the claims by collinite that it lasts 6-7 months.

Thanks Ravi. Its not quite shining as those scratches on the bonnet are eyesore & still there. Shall have to repaint bonnet.

And yes, 2.5 hrs well spent. In fact, never in my life I sweated like this with sweat draining all over.
