wow fiat has given you a lot of goodies for free under warranty. but they should have got everything right in the first place. i also got the a.c update done though i did not have any complaints. like you said it used to take long to cool when parked under sun. will check in some times if that has improved. i also feel that my elastic pads needs replacement as it makes some loose noise when going over potholes.

Thanks Binze. But those scratches on bonnet is eye-sore so much so that I'm beginning to feel that I'm avoiding looking at them, may be that's why I've still not tried Com-Paint on them yet even after getting it before 15 days.

That sweet Warranty is for 4 years (2+2 years extended warranty) ::D

EDIT: Just checked 3rd Service details. Even Elastic Pads were changed in 3rd Service (30,000 kms) ::D

COST OF OWNERSHIP - 37,000 KM'S (EXCL ACCIDENTAL REPAIRS)

    Rs. 13,180/- for 37,000 km's i.e. 36 paise per km :clap

Details are as below. This is inspite of the 3rd service where I overpaid for Wheel Alignment & Balancing (Rs. 1200) but never bothered as the guys had done extremely good job. Excluding that, the total Cost of Ownership is about Rs. 12,000/- for 37,000 km's. ::T

Dude - you make life for all of us Linea owners easier with such detailed work on your posts... :)

I will try to do this analysis after my next service.

Btw, yes the scratches on the bonnet sucks...its really sad that all our efforts are just shattered with few seconds of the morons laying their hands, scribbling tools or an entire vehicle on our vehicle.

I recently was at a toll.. Was waiting for change from the Guy when i felt a thud like bump to the car from behind. Walked out to see this moron who had a smart car (punto) landing straight into my car. Miracle was there was no damage at all although it was a big enough bump. But then i realised that your car is more in the hands of these morons as far as the well being of your car is concerned. In other words, he was kind enough to just have kissed my beauty the way he did and not tried a French kiss :D

Anyway, amit, get the bonnet painted soon.

hey dont you think the labor on brake pad replacement is too much. it should me max 350 rs considering that they only have to remove 4 nuts of tyres and 2 bolts on the brake calliper. a simple 10 min job. aftermarket competent garage wala takes 150rs for the same.

fully synthetic oil for just 1955 is amazing cheap. petronas is a very good brand from malasia.

    Amit,

Somehow I also always felt that the entire 3rd service episod was costly to me. But there were coule of things happened. Firstly, I was way too busy at work thosee days. When called for appointment, both TASC's mentioned that they stopped pick-up Drop facility due to inavailability of drivers. Finally, I had to call Service Manager of one of these TASC's & requested him to somehow arrange for some alternative. He did it & sent an advisor.

Secondly, the workmanship was so top notch that my Linea felt entirely different & absolutely like-new after the service (compare to earlier service experiences). I was so overjoyous & enjoying Linea that I forgot everything ::V

Thirdly, as I mentioned it was very hectic at work during those days. No time to indulge in followup, negotiations etc.

Last but not the least, I mentioned this earlier also - I can't be aggressive with those who are nice to me. And they were nice to me all thro' that service experience (except of course cost part).

All these compounded to let me leave the cost part as it is. Though I asked about why Brake Discs need the replacement to which I received some technical response.

I think the following cost could have been avoided:

    Wheel Alignment - Rs. 600
    Wheel Balancing - Rs. 600
Labour on Brake Pads/ Discs - Rs. 1200 (how much should it be?)
& may be Brake Discs - Rs. 2000(while Brake pads replacement was alright, I felt Brake Discs change was li'l too early)
    Total - Rs. 4,400/-

If you remove these costs the bill comes to below Rs. 6,000/- & my Cost of Ownership would have gone down below Rs. 9,000/- i.e. about 25 paise per km ::D

ya ya, being nice to people who are nice is totally perfect.
but the labor costs are standard across authorised workshops and if 1200 is standard for brakepad replacement then its a total loot.
it should not be more than 350rs max. when tyre is open they just need to pull off 1/2 bolts and fit the pads and put the brake caliper back.
maruti also takes 350rs and the competant garage where i go he takes Rs.100. we can do this at home too. its very easy, but then fiat will cribble about warranty.

again chor log. wheel alignment is 200 rs and balancing is 350 rs with weights extra 50p per gm. max everywhere. fiat is charging 600 for both.

why did you change the brake discs? were they warped/ worn out? brake discs cost is ok though on higher side.

asking people to directly come after 15k interval and then looting them with same money that would have costed them with 5000 kms interval is bad.

can someone post the standard labor cost declared by fiat for various activities. does anyone have a chart.

I doubt as I saw some posts where other TASC's have charged some Rs. 400 for alignment/ balancing whereas here I was charged Rs. 600 each. I might be wrong & they might have increased the rate.

EDIT: I remember - the same TASC quoted Rs. 400 for alignment at the time of 2nd service. On my argueing that its free, they agreed to do it free after lots of arguements

Alignment and Balancing should be done free. I have not paid anything till now, for my 2 servicing.
Only Rs. 179 was charged for weight.

Normally Concorde service manager told me that alignment should be free. For Balancing, there is some confusion, but he doesn't charge me ::D .

alignment should be free actually. nothing much is done in it. however most of the manufacturers charge it.
