when i had asked for normal scuff plates they had deliberately put tjet plates. they look very plastic and of inferior quality. i asked them to remove them and put the linea ones.

scuff plates cannot be put on rear in linea. as it is there is a moulding in the rear. so its not required.

Agreed. This is also one of the reasons I went ahead with Linea scuff plates instead of T-Jet ones. Linea scuff plates look very decent & the width is also more making the overall dimension at most appropriate scale.

Yes. EcoDrive is not available for MJD Linea in India. Currently its available in India only for Petrol & that too the option is for FIRE 77BHP instead of 90 BHP. I've a Petrol Linea & installed ecoDrive on PC & Car.

How are you recording data? Were you able to install it in your car ?

If ecoDrive is installed in car & PC, and when you've recorded details of journey on a USB thro' USB slot in Glove Box, the same USB stick, you insert in your PC. The USB stick folder will show some files but not much useful.

All journey data is recorded in a file called ecoDriveJourney.db This file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\<USERname>\Application Data\com.fiat.convergence.xxxxxx folder. Open this file in SQL viwer and you'll come across wealth of information.

My Linea is delivered back tonight. Looks like Fortune has done a good job. However, I could not test everything that has been done. It was delivered at 9.30 pm & could take only a test drive of 1 km near home. 1st look shows following:

    • AC Kit upgrade is done - Cooling seems to have increased by leaps & bound. Shall have to check tomorrow & day after. Invoice, though, does not show anything related to AC Kit.
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Left Hand Side Headlight replaced - Looks spanking new now ::D
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Left side indicator plastic casing replaced.
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Clutch Hardness - Clutch Slave Cylinder changed & replaced with the latest/ new CSC made of Steel. This is 3rd CSC in my Linea. The clutch feels softer now compared to earlier, not "butter-smooth" yet. I think I'll like it instead of extremely smooth clutch. Let's see. There is an entry in Invoice = "Clutch Pump" replaced under warranty. Invoice also shows - Remove-Refit Clutch Master Cylinder replaced under warranty (price/cost not written though)
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Steering hardness - 1st feel is that the steering feels like new car. Shall have to see tomorrow. Invoice shows Elastic Pads (2 no.s) replaced under warranty. It also shows - "Disassemble & Assemble Front Struts (both struts replaced)". I think struts were replaced in my car 3 months back in 30K kms service.
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Bumper alignment is done - Not 100% perfect but almost 90% there
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Linea Scuff Plates fitted. Shall post pics tomorrow.
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Roof Rubber Beading fixed properly.
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • Fuse lid & Glove Box alignment - shall have to check tomorrow.
      [/*:m:3540wy0g]
    • 3M Paint Protection 3rd application done. Shall have to see tom on the effectiveness. Bonnet scratches which were deep have not disappeared as expected. I'll have to use Com-paint.[/*:m:3540wy0g]

Following are the Invoice copies. Whats the 1st Part - Ornament RH (Part No. 0059064034).

Everything was covered under warranty (even the Side indicator casing), the Bill is Rs. 0.00 ::D I've paid only Rs. 391 for Linea Scuff plates. Sweet. Very Sweet. ::D

So u r happy with the service and work done. Good.
Last week I have also fitted SIL plates. Pure silver plates looks good than illuminated.
But illuminated will have good effect in night.
Yours car manufactured before MAy'10. So A/c upgrade.
Mine is Oct'10 ( VIN:xxxxx KNZ), so they confirmed during 1st servicing that it has already fitted with upgraded kit in factory.
But somehow I am not satisfied with the performance, especially now when summer in Hyd is just started.
Post detail report regarding A/C performance tomorrow.

Driven for 3-4 kms to taste the work done. Initial observations are as below:

    Steering

Aha !! Wow ! Amazing ! Falling in love with this HPS steering all over again ! Whatever TASC has done, the steering has become extremely good. Earlier, of late, I started feeling it a bit hard especially at full turns (Power Steering fluid level was alright). Now, it has become super accurate & much softer with precise movement giving a new-car feel. Don't know what has changed this - TASC has replaced Elastic Pads & Front Mount Struts (I think Struts were replaced in Oct'10 too but without such an effect).

    AC Upgrade

I was earlier hesitant to do it as I did not find major issue with earlier AC. It was not super-chill but it was not a dud either & I did not want to mess with the whole set-up (If it's ain't broken, don't fix it !). Hence, couple of months back when car went to TASC for accidental repairs, I did not get it done. However, when this appointment for Headlight change is fixed, I mulled over AC upgrade & finally decided to do it thinking its an ECU flash/ update also thro' Italy server & we must keep all systems updated which are recommended by Fiat (Kaps mentioned something similar sometime back).

Now, I think its good that I went for it. There is a marked difference I observed in today's short test drive. The car was parked in open under the Sun as usual for entire morning till 12 noon. Went inside at 12 noon, cranked & after a minute put on the AC. The setting was on Auto @ 19 Degrees. It seems the air outflow has increased considerably along-with cooling. At 19 deg the Air flow is much more than earlier at same setting. Even the Rear AC Vent is throwing out more air now which was very less earlier. Within 3-5 minutes the cabin got cool. There is no difference in in-cabin noise. After the drive when I came out, I kept the engine running to check outside noise. the radiator fan was running at full speed & the outside noise was considerable. After 30 seconds, the fan speed reduced & noise reduced to its normal. But I guess outside noise could be higher than earlier (did not pay attention to outside noise earlier hence can't say precisely).

Effect of AC upgrade on Engine/ Car running? Well the car runs like-new. But then Steering has vastly improved & this is mostly a case after getting the car back from Fortune, Saki Naka ::D I think I'll have to observe it for a few days to assess it.

I always want all my possessions to keep Like-new. From past few days, I was feeling I'm driving an old car ( :sadblue ) due to those scratches on bonnet made by some moron. 3M Paint Protection 3rd free application is done. Those scratches being deep obviously have not disappeared but lightened a bit. Have to use Com-Paint now  . Except for this, I'm back to driving a like-new car. Check it out.

    2 Years & 36,000 kms "New" (Old??....naah)

(The car was under thick layer of dust due to construction work going on nearby. Pics taken after removing dust by Jopasu Car Duster)

A suggestion to those who have installed ecoDrive. When you get the car back from TASC after every visit, check the Date/ Time in MID & set it accurately before inserting your ecoDrive USB stick.

I've observed that every time the car is back from TASC, invariably it's found the date is reset to 1st January, 20xx. This might be because of disconnecting Battery -ve terminal for longer duration. This time without looking at the MID, I insereted the USB stick & recorded the latest ecoDrive journeys. When I inserted the USB stick in my PC & launched ecoDrive application on PC, the ecoIndex data was all jumbled. The 1st data shown from 1st Jan, 2007 & all my recent data was stacked together at the right most end of the axis. I thought of deleting the last few entries by going into the system files in PC. I located the system files & was just about to do it when a better idea came to my mind. I had copied ecoDrive system files on my Hard Drive just before giving car to TASC. So I just copied those file in system directory overwriting the existing files & whoa the earlier ecoIndex & journey data is restored skipping those few journeys with old dates.

I ran the car for a few kms today. The AC cooling has really vastly improved. I started the car at 12.45 noon (car was parked in open) & the cabin got cool in 1 just km with 19 degrees setting on ACC.
