Yes even wheel balancing they should charge only weights charges, no labour charges.

Anyway, removing brake pads etc will make the service cost in similar range of 4K.

BTW, what is "Air Filter Element PTL"?

In 2nd Service of my Car, I also did not pay for Alignment after arguement. However, this time around due to paucity of time & hectic work at office, I was not in a frame of mind for any arguement. So, just let it go. And I do not know whether its still free from 3rd service onwards, as usually 3rd service onwards everything should be chargeable. So, left it at that.

I think "Air Filter Element PTL" would mean Air Filter (Petrol engine) change.

The difference in the steering input feel may have been because of the replacement of ball joints and the linkages and the tyre rotation .
Your answer to the above could help our members in trouble shooting when they come accross such situations

I think its due to 3rd Service, Engine Oil, Change of Air Filter, Fuel Filter etc. But the effect is so tangible that I'm seriously thinking of getting my car serviced at not every 15K kms but at every 8-10K kms

Yday morning, I found "L" letter of Linea monogram fallen on the recess of the rear bumper. It might have been fallen while the washer guy washed the car in early morning. Stuck it with Araldite today. Lets see how many days it stays.

3M 2nd application is not as good as the 1st one. Few Swirls, faint scratches are still visible.

Nope, Bala. THought of selling her even i future never came to my mind. Even if I'll change car after 4-5 years, I'll pass it on to close family, may be brother or father to keep her in the family.

OK now on 30K kms service. It was just amazing.

As I mentioned earlier, Fortune, Sakinaka sent someone for pick up on Fri morning & looking at the list of items & also 3M treatment 2nd free application, I thought I may get the car back on Sat & not on the same day. that's why I gave it on Fri & not on Sat. But to my pleasant surprise, got a call from TASC technician on the same day at around 5.00 pm that the car is ready with even 3M treatment completed :clapping This is where Fortune, Powai/ Sakinaka dedicated Fiat team (from an old Fiat dealer Anuroop) is excellent. The workmanship is so superb almost always, hence I've started feeling that I don't need to personally go there & be there.

Psychologically, I felt so pleased by this gesture of pickup-drop & the fact that I did not have to bother about service/ pickup/drop / workmanship etc from busy work schedule made a huge positive impact. Such small small things make a huge difference on Customer's service experience. I went to office with my colleague in his ANHC on that day & he told me that his dealer calls him every 3 months, reminds him on his service, picks up his car at 11.30 am from our office & drops it back at 5 pm at office.

1st thing I noticed after service is that Steering became lighter than earlier. Its always one of the best steering's around & became even better after service.[/*:m:14l19wly]

Most important thing is that the Drive-ability has improved by Leaps & Bounds. The car has become super-refined, butter-smooth & amazingly silent. Even with the car idling, it feels that engine is yet not started. The car feels eager to surge ahead. 2nd gear surge has immensely improved. Even in 3rd/ 4th & 5th gear, a gentle tap on the accelerator & the car surges ahead as if turbo is kicking in (mine is Petrol Linea & I wonder if TASC has put T-Jet engine in my car or what ::V ). The car feels as if it has just came out of showroom, brand new
Lets see status of my To-Do items:[/*:m:14l19wly]

Service - Engine Oil change, Air Filter change, Fuel Filter change, Pollen Filter change (I think new pollen filter is put as its mentioned Wiremesh filter in Invoice)[/*:m:14l19wly]

Tyre Rotation - Done. Front to Rear on the same side i.e. Left front to Left rear - No X pattern rotation. This time it sounds perfect. Ride & Handling and so as maneuverability has improved immensely as Wheel Alignment & Balancing are also done. This is unlike 2nd service when Ride became bumpier as tyre rotation was done on X pattern which I had to get it reversed later. [/*:m:14l19wly]

Paint touch up on front bumper - While changing the lower bumper grill, TASC technician had a hard time removing the grill & in the process paint got peeled off from many spots on the bumper edges - Pending as their paint booth is still at Vikhroli & not shifted to service premises at Sakinaka.[/*:m:14l19wly]

ACC ECU update - Done. I think suction hose & Wiremesh filter got changed. Am not sure about updation with CD though I think it would also be done. Have to observe the effect on cooling.[/*:m:14l19wly]

Steering Locak issue - It was working. I was told that steering gets locked after moving steering 1/4th way to any side after pulling out the key. Checked today. After removing the key, When I move steering to right by 45 degrees, it gets locked & fits snugly.[/*:m:14l19wly]

3 M Paint Protection - 2nd free application - Done. [/*:m:14l19wly]

Check availability of Linea letters/ decal. Letter "I" is missing & may be I need to buy the entire set - I was told that I had to buy the entire set. I said no thinking I would manage to get the letter "I" somehow. However, to my pleasant surprise, someone there had a piece of letter "I" & he has put it on my Linea. Big thanks to him & TASC.[/*:m:14l19wly]

Linea Scuff Plates - buy & fit - Not available. ::O [/*:m:14l19wly]

Check Suspension Struts - Linkage Rods & Strut mountings changed under warranty though in the morning I was told it might not be needed. ::T [/*:m:14l19wly]

Earlier complaint - followup & check - some paint issues I mentioned few days back - a few small small dots from where paint has peeled off on bonnet, boot & a door. Very small dots not visible from 4-5 feet distance - I was told pics were taken. Now, I'll followup with Fiat.[/*:m:14l19wly]

The only sore point was the Bill. And that was due to Brake pads which I was sure that I would be asked to change. When I just curiously asked that isn't 30K kms too low & too soon to get the Brake Pads & Brake discs changed, I was told that they've checked it & it need replacement though he also mentioned that the car is driven very well looking at the brake pads else many cars have changed Brake pads at even below 20K kms ( :confused I'm a heavy footed driver :confused )[/*:m:14l19wly]

Break-up of Invoice
I might have delayed Brake pad/ Disc change as there was no issues in braking. But just went ahead with it thinking why to take chances with something as sensitive as Brakes. Also Wheel Alignment & Balancing charges seem to be a bit high. However, still because of my overall happier frame of mind, did not feel like raising it. If we remove Brake Pads/ Disc/ its labour/ Alignment/ Balancing, the charges foir 3rd service reduces to Rs. 3800-odd only

So your Front stud mounting was also replaced... Cool am sure the noise must have vanished by now...

I get a feeling that the initial lot buyers have been test mules for Fiat. On the bright side, 2 years warranty has ensured that test niggles were ironed out without much heart-ache to customer. A refined product like TJet seems to be a result of all this mule reporting

Also, can you think how much Fiat would have earned on our cars (think about all that we've got done under warranty !!) ?? (Even Wiper blades have been replaced under warranty). And, BTW we got our cars a good 1 Lacs rupees cheaper than current prices :clapping

Thanks Kapil. Everytime when I see a brand new Linea with Gloss & shine, I wish my Linea always remain the same & hence try to do maximum to keep her like-new. Not only cars, I like to keep almost all items as like-new. Be it Laptop, Mobile, camcorder or even small small items, sometimes even the original packaging boxes housing such items remains for years ::O :confused

Thanks Kapil. Everytime when I see a brand new Linea with Gloss & shine, I wish my Linea always remain the same & hence try to do maximum to keep her like-new. Not only cars, I like to keep almost all items as like-new. Be it Laptop, Mobile, camcorder or even small small items, sometimes even the original packaging boxes housing such items remains for years ::O :confused

Hey vahanpujari, u r my brother!!!

I also keep all my things very clean and intact. I have some odd 100-110 audio casettes and 50-60 movie CDs.
Neither a single CD is having scratch nor a single casette with tape damaged.
Forget about CD/casettes, their covers are also intact (unfortunately with scratches due to bad handling of friends)
I also like things should remain new for whole of life.

I think all Fiaters are alike. There is no other car in India continuing to modern generation that is maintained the way Fiat is. Please correct me if I am wrong. My things also last a long while and seeing them in a poor condition ::OO ::OO is a big turn off for me.

Fiats are built to last, with all those high strength steel and quality painting, maintaining Linea and GP as new is easy. Thats the reason why we still see lots of "brand new" old Palios on our roads. The body just wont give up the shape.

The best way to keep car body neat

The best way to keep car body neat is during monsoon, clean the car every month at washing station.
Because lot of mud which accumulates below body and mudguard, rusts the whole body.
from Jun to Oct, just do outer wash everymonth(which hardly costs Rs.100/month). Please ask washing fellow to concentrate on removing mud from bottom rather cleaning outer body. People normally avoid washing cars in monsoon for 2-3 months thinking 'anyway it is going to dirty again' is wrong.
I do 4 outer washs in Jun to Oct and full body wash + greasing at least twice /year.
