Apparently the 4c is highly fuel efficient too as a result of the 1.75 tbi direct injection turbo 240odd bhp etc and especially the low low weight: 34odd mpg they say! Amazing for a vehicle that has properly 'supercar' performance.

btw this engine has always in various iterations outgunned the 1.8tsi from the vw/audi group: and still does by a distance. There is a version of it now that delivers about 350 bhp and massive torque WITH good emissions and fe. The engine may not be made much more, though, nor offered on other future Alfa-s: for that there are the new 2 litre DI multiair turbopetrols (so far with 200hp, 280 hp and a 350 hp 48v mild hybrid version coming soon.)

One wonders whether they will make a concession or ten to 'luxury' sportscar tastes and do a version of the 4c that is full of squishy plastic and heavy nvh suppression, 'softer' suspension etc?

    Demoralizing numbers..
Does any other manufacturer sell lesser numbers than fiat?,
Totally unjustified considering the fact that both it's cars are better than that of it's maruti counterpart.

Since FIAT left the Tata sales JV to setup theindependent dealerships and service centres, i.e., since the new Linea heavy facelift with tons of 'highend' features, then discounts, then new Punto, then Avventura, then the Abarth t-jets, discounts throughout, tons of ostensibly confidence building youtube videos and some advertizing too, it has been clear that

the FIAT brand is singularly inelastic to price/value, to disounting, to Italianate sporty styling, to new powerful engines, to word about its build quality and safety, to a generous warranty policy in practice, etc.

i.e., FCA would have to retail them at 50%off, and they still might not 'sell' any better!

Sure the models are not 'all-new', whatever that means (the i20 elite or the honda city are not all new either: same engines, same platforms as their previous gens, etc.) BUT you'd have imagined at least some on-the-margin effect would've occured? But none was to be found, none.

That is why FCA looks like it may be on the JEEP way/trail, instead. Bye bye FIAT (?), come 2019, only more so if as i think will be the case now through 2019: India could get the heavily localized Compass, a b-suv derived from the 'new Punto' AND maybe (esp for rhd export) the Renegade too in the broad 10to25 lakhs range. Plus ckd Wranglers (also for re-export, rhd.)

    Hello All,

I was a little interested in speculating the future of their Abarth Offering in the Punto. With all the focus on the jeep for the foreseeable future, will we still get to see the Abarth engine being offered in the affordable realm?

Or will it just slowly go away?

    Regards,
    Bharath

Some automags have speculated that the indian Compass may get the 2 litre non-turbo wge petrol from Brazil+China, instead of the t-jet. One supposes, even if that is the case, that the smaller b-suv to follow it (renegade-like, but on the 'new Punto' platform) will surely carryon with the t-jet, as on the Linea/Punto currently.

    Punto Evo 1.3 90 HP
Linea - 65, Sunny - 282, Scala - 17. Scala numbers indeed give some solace.

If this trend of people not touching any worthy car outside maruthi, hyundai and vw to a certain extent (Honda was forgotten long back after duds like brio, jazz, crv, brv, diesel city and wrv very shortly!),new manufacturers like kia(even if its a H subsidiary)would be wary of touching Indian soil and existing players would not think of launching new products, even as maruthi lauches tin cans after tin cans even if its cars like Astar are duds.
Very unfortunate that good cars like fluence, scala and koleos flopped for Renault.
    Indian market never matured.
