Tata Motors looks after sales and service including marketing and advertising. Fiat India's job is just to manufacture the automobiles and supply to Tata Motors as per the indent given by the latter.

It is high time some one in Fiat went through these threads...
There were some posts in this direction before, any progress on that direction?

Fiat India to export cars in SAARC countries

Fiat India said that it was looking to export its cars in South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries to boost its export volumes.

"We are looking to export our cars Palio, Linea and Punto in SAARC countries including Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh as these are right hand driving countries," Company's Marketing Head Tarun Khanna told reporters today on this sidelines of new variant of Grande Punto.

The company exported over 2,000 units to South Africa, including 1,100 units of Punto, 360 units of Linea and 650 units of Palio. "We began exporting last year. So far we have exported only to South Africa", he said.

Now Fiat starts giving pressure to Tata.

Fiat India CEO, Rajeev Kapoor on the not-so-successful JV with Tata in India. Tata is failing to boost sales numbers for Fiat in India and the JV isn’t as fruitful as Fiat would expect it to be.

good to see Fiat India is getting their act together. Tata just cannot take Fiat for a ride and use Fiat technology for selling their own cars only. i cannot understand how on earth can Vista sell more than the Brilliant Punto.

i think Fiat shud have tied up with M&M instead of Tata Motors. Tata's r simply milking Fiat India. M&M wanted to have a good car in its stable but their JV also didnt work. they must be more hungry to sell a world class product like Punto & Linea. Fiat wudnt have any direct competetion with their products either and they cud have priced it even more aggressively. Fiat shud look into these aspects also.

But M&M JV with Renault flopped.
My view is the current JV has given Fiat to spread the reach, with 175 dealers. Now Fiat should push/Question Tata regarding sales. And do its bit to correct existing small issues.

u never know Fiat-M&M JV might have just clicked. anyways right now Fiat shud be more sure of what they want from tatas. they shud have more say in marketing. there shud be seperate area for Fiat in all showrooms and more proffessional trained staffs. all the after sale service shud be done thro trained Fiat enggs only who know everybit of the car. and Fiat shud start independent showrooms also. its so disheartening to see present sales figures of Fiat.
