It doesn't matter what the 1.2 does for real. The perception is that it's slow and sluggish. Die has been cast. In India, nothing kills a car, specially a non-Japanese one faster then perception. This is the sad truth.

Do we have a city wise sales break up for Punto / Linea?
Just trying to know which City is "Bolder"? :)
Assuming that the cars ride in the same city of registrn more or less.

Its all so surprising that GP being such a good car, is still not able to get the sufficient numbers in. The reasons for it have already been discussed over here so no need to repeat them.

But frankly speaking, there is a part of my heart that likes GP not selling that well. I don't want it to a success story as the Swift. Because being discreet is a part of its appeal. I don't want to see puntos at each and every corner of the road... I like the fact that my ride is not a common one. Its a great car and still not everyone has it.
I don't know about others. may be this feeling is jst limited to me and my heart... :)

Last year Fiat did about 25,000 units of sales. This year they are targetting sales of 50,000 units. That's double or 100% increase but the fact is that their sales are stuck at 2,000 units / month. How does Fiat plan to increase this to 4,000 units? Punto 90bhp and Linea T-Jet will add barely 10% to the existing sales of these cars. At best, their sales will inch up from 2,000 to 2,200 or 2,300 units / month. There is no way they are going to come anywhere remotely close to the 50K sales target they have set for this year unless they start exporting to more countries.

And yes. Marketing. That has been the nail in their coffin in the past and Tata is doing it again. Just look at the aggressive adverts they have for their cars and then compare that to the Fiat adverts. When BS-IV norms came into effect, Tata went ballastic with their silly Drivetech4 with eurotech gearbox nonsense while Linea's power output hike from 85bhp to 92bhp is barely known even now 2 months after launch. Not a single magazine drove that car! See VW's adverts and then look at the silly Fiat adverts. Almost like Tata does not want to sell these cars. They are just milking Fiat for their technology and in return fooling them by talking about giving sales support.

Wake up Fiat! Tata is doing to you what Pakistan does to USA in the fight against terror!!

i totally agree with amit. in addition to that Fiat shud be quick in reacting. Punto & Linea r already a success story in india. but Fiat shud bring few entry level cars also. thats the volume segement. more ppl will drive Fiats and feel the beautiful FIRE and MJD that it posses. the Novo Uno shud be launched in the 3-4 lakh range and the new version of Palio in the 3.5-4.5 lakh segment. one of my friend has a palio mjd, has done 23k km without any issue. he very happy and satisfied by the car. there no rattling sound. absolutely brilliant.
