Again, these all are our wishes. We wish Fiat should be able to do it. But reality is different. Like a boken record, its like an example that Ajit Agarkar wants to believe that he is an all-rounder but in reality he is not. He has to demonstrate first that he is one. Likewise, Fiat has to demonstrate first that it is abig fish in Indian marketwhich it has not in all these years. Where is the first positive signs? Are the sales rising even slowly to 2000, 3000, 4000....?Has Fiat taken necessary steps to do it?

This called business forecasting which is a part of business mathe for any businessman. Its a necessity. It means those guys believe that their sales and profit will rise with a confidence in those brands. Can Fiat invoke that confidence in those businessmen? Forget about it, Fiat is not able to imvoke confidence in simple customers to take the sales to 4000 - 5000.

Man, this is the most depressing thread that I have ever read here on TFI.
We like our Fiats, don't we? Lets just enjoy them and Fiat will sort out the business strategy if they want to sell more cars then engines. We paid for them knowing all of this. What has changed since then?

    A Statement from Rajeev Kapoor:

Automaker Fiat is banking on the rising demand for diesel cars to get ahead in the domestic passenger car market. However, Fiat India chief executive Rajeev Kapoor says that sales will remain sluggish for the next three months, but pick up after that. "Overall 5-6% is what we should anticipate, and looking at the global scenario that's not bad," he added.
So as to overcome sluggish sales, Fiat says that they are looking are various tie-ups, like the one with Maruti , to boost sales. "Sales are nicely supplemented by our tie-up with Maruti to supply the latter with diesel engines," said Kapoor.
The company is also considering bringing in other global brands into India via these tie-ups.
With demand for diesel cars increasing, Kapoor believes FY13 will be a better year for them.

From this statement it appears that becoming engine supplier is the topmost priority for Fiat. Cars manufactured by Fiat would be for enthusiasts only

I'm always amazed by Mr. Kapoor's statements. He's always like an Alice in Wonderland.

At the Delhi launch he said if we put in the Dualogic gearbox in the Linea ( I had asked him when is FIAT bringing the Linea Dualogic to India) , it might become a car of the D segment. :lol

No. There is nothing to be depressed about. You are absolutely right and I've said earlier to multiple times that we've chosen Fiat knowing all these. The discussion was a Reality Check in response to comments that Fiat will do this, will do that, will increase sales to xxxxx, global leader etc etc.

  7. Best thing for us is to go to the FIAT plant and get all the things needed and then build our own FIAT's so that we dont have to wait for the "real" FIAT to bring cars to INDIA which will be like a dream for us.

Yeah .. but my point is simple If Fiat also wish the same and work for that It will full-fill our wishes .. They are capable of doing it but sadly doing nothing till now.

I am repeating the same.. Fiat is capable of doing that but still they are sleeping... and again JV with Tata was another irresponsible decision.

Fiat again lost the first mover advantage. They could have launched the Linea T-Jet Duologic and earned some technological brownie points.

If Ford can launch the Fiesta with their version of DSG transmisson at almost Honda City A/T prices then what makes Fiat believe that pricing would put the car in D segment?!
