I never knew they had an RnD unit in india, Can anybody from chennai confirm it??
Here goes: Fiat-Chrysler R&D Centre, Chennai
There has always been a FIAT Powertrain (FPT) R&D centre in Ranjangaon as well - one of only 5 in the World.
I am not sure if this is relevent in this post, mod please move or delete if not appropriate.
In yesterdays news report was there that gov is planning for an additional 5 Rs hike in diesel price. if that happens there will definetly less demand for diesel cars for sure as there is a good price gap in diesel and petrol car(Eg: Swift P and Swift D). 90% of Punto and Linea sold are diesel and FIAT sells the engine to other manuactures. if there is less demand for diesel cars What will happen to FIAT?
I heard that chrysler having an office in chennai, I am not sure about Fiat's involvement in that.
From what I know the Chennai center was started by Chrysler. It turned into a Fiat-Chrysler R&D centre after Fiat took over Chrysler.
So, what now ? Will I and also an average customer get good service and a car that does not need to be taken to an ASC in 1st 2-3 months of purchase or thereafter every 3 to 4 months?
Oh, so this is just another Cheap labour unit outside their country with simply no benefit for us !!
We can't say simply no benefit for us. It has provided job for around 1200 engineers.
It is not only for cheap labour but also for good brains.
