The left side headlight is not working since yesterday - parking light is working though, but neither is there a warning lamp in the instrument cluster nor is there any message flashing in the MID. What could be wrong?

Is it only one beam or both? Like I had the low beam conk off on one of the bulbs and there was no warning. Most likely, the bulb has conked off. Replace it.

Or as DIY, try replacing the conked off bulb with the one which is working and you will know if the bulb is the issue or something else.

I replaced the bulb and it's working now.

What I want to know is is it okay if there was no warning light and message in the MID? When does the warning lamp and message come on?

^^^^ I think this is ok. Happened to me as well as mentioned in the last post. Would be intrigued to know the reason if its not.

    34,000 kms on the odo.

Since past 3-4 days on cold start, when I switch on the lights (just parking lights) engine rpm goes up from idling (800-900rpm) to about 1200 rpm. Slowly, however, the rpm returns to the idling levels.

Yesterday, evening the same thing happened BUT the engine light came on with the message CHECK ENGINE flashing on the MID.

Fortune Nerul said we are booked for tomorrow (July 20). After a bit of firm talking, they said come in and we will squeeze you in.

Any pointers to what's going on?

Problem solved on July 22. However, from July 21 evening the check engine light had disappeared totally. Still the car was sent for a check and the scan threw up 'accelarator pedal error' - no exact details on the same , this is reported by my colleague who took the car to the ASC. A reset is all it took to get the car back to normal.

A big thumbs down to Fortune Nerul for the way they dealt with this case.

On July 19 I was told to bring the car on July 21 as 'we are packed for tomorrow'. I tell them what if this is my only car, do you want me to walk to work? Besides, isn't there any scope for emergencies? I am told to come over and 'we will squeeze you in'. I reach the ASC at 10.30am and am told to wait as appointments will get prefrence. Fair enough. There are 4 customers ahead of me. This shouldn't take long shouldn't it? I call for my colleague as I have to rush to office. At 1pm, he calls and says the car may be taken in at 2.30pm and that ASC insists I come back tomorrow. After taking an appointment for July 21 at 10am the car is brought back.

On July 21, my colleage reaches the ASC and is told there is no appointment! I talk to the reception and the car is put on wait. At 12pm, my colleague calls and says ASC people say they are packed and either the car will be taken in after 2.30pm or that I should bring it back tomorrow! I tell him to talk to the manager as it's at best a 10 minute job. At 12.30 the car is taken in after the higher up is spoken to and at 1pm it's out scanning and rest of the error done.

The reluctance of the ASC to take in the car was shocking to me. This, despite me, constantly telling them that the check engine light is on and therefore this is a emergency. The word emergency doesn't seem to exist in a Tata-Fiat ASC. Nothing seems to affect these zombies. Totally frustrating expereince akin to banging my head against a wall. Ultimately, the problem was sorted out in just under 30 minutes. Are these guys so packed that they can't spare 30 minutes on a emergency car? I shudder to think what will happen when volumes go up! Thank God Fiat doesn't sell much!

Meeting Manmohan Singh is a far easy job, mate.

These service centres act as if they are doing us a big favour by merely granting an appointment, no comments on their expertise.

A month ago, i called up the local ASS to check the car in to replace a leaky steering oil reservoir. It was a thursday

And , the appointment they could 'manage' was on tuesday. I got incensed and decided i'll get it done when the car would go for it's scheduled service.

I'll have to book an appointment for that about 15 days beforehand i think. :D

I was facing some resistance from the gear while slotting into fifth since the past few days so immediately I thought that the dreaded CSC issue was cropping up again. Not wanting to get stuck on the road, the car was sent today to Fortune, Nerul. Do note that appointment was taken on Thursday, September 8 and today was suggested by the dealer to which I readily agreed.

I also want them to change the air filter and check an underbody sound.

    Two issues now:

1.) CSC replacement will be charged. Even after telling the dealer that it's a Fiat recall they are insisting that it's a chargeable repair job.

2.) Car will be delivered tomorrow!

The first point has really irritated me. The dealer agrees that it's a Fiat initiated recall yet says that it's chargeable! First time in the automotive history is a company initiating a recall and asking customers to pay for their inefficiency!

The second point shows that Fiat expects it's customers to have two cars. What if this is the only car I have? Am I supposed to take 2 days off from work or should I travel by taxi or bus?

ASC visits are getting horrible day by day. I had a far far better experience with the Palio. And we are told Fiat is working on improving customer experience!

I had similar but more acute issue. Last Saturday, on Sea-link toll naka, the gears suddenly refused to engage. Few people pushed the car & gears finally got engaged. Called TASS & SA advised to take the car to TASS on Monday. Like you, not wanting to stuck on road for fear of failure of CSC, I sent the car on Saturday itself. The clutch got burnt, they did not have part, on my insistence, they managed to get part from other TASS on Tuesday & car was returned to me on Wednesday (thats 3.5 days incl Sunday). Was charged Rs. 8,000/- for the clutch including a whopping labour charges of Rs. 4,500 + taxes

This is a surprise ! Why do they charge for CSC which in 1st place is a fearsome covenant having a probability of failing anytime. One of my colleagues faced it in middle of the road & was telling me that he now does not like to drive his Linea on a long drive to Goa for this fear.

Strange that CSC replacement is being charged to you.
Everybody got it replaced for free. Try confirming with Fiat directly.
