^^ you will always get these kind of figures between lonavala and khargar as the MID shows 50kmpl for max time as its a total downslope :)

Lets flashback to May 12, 2011. The average mileage I got was 27.9kmpl.

There was a stretch of about 25kms from Lonavala to the Expressway toll plaza where the mileage figures were:

    Photo0133-MID.jpg

    These mileage figures are critical:

    - for the first 25kms I managed 41kmpl. Thanks to ACC not working and me cruising down the ghats in fifth gear with my foot lifted off the gas pedal.

    - As I crossed the toll plaza, I decided to try and get home asap so drove faster. I ended up with mileage figures of 27.9kmpl.

    - The next day on the same road with ACC ON, I manged 35kmpl over a 58kms drive.

Hey Dude, I used to get 41 km/ltr on my KB125, hahahahaha.
You usually tend to get Good FE on the expressway as you are always on the Top gear.

    Excellent FE, amit

This reminded me my tryst with this route in 2009. Same route, same 25 kms stretch, only a different cat - Petrol Linea. Here is something from my ownership report. Sorry to hijack your thread, amit but can't resist - fond memories !!

To me the mileage of 34.9kmpl is a more realistic and practical one. The 41kmpl is what the Punto or the MJD is capable of but is not practical in the long run or drive.

The 34.9kmpl is more realistic and I would say the best mileage figures I have got from the Punto for the following reasons:

    - It was over an almost 60kms drive.

    - ACC was working all the time.

    - Driving distance was almost 60 kms against just 25 kms most of it cruising down the ghats with the foot lifted off the accelarator.

In short, the 41kmpl is more of a showcase of what the MJD is capable off - like a concept car while the 34.9kmpl is what the MJD can achieve if driven maturely over a long distance traffic and road conditions permitting of course.

This brings me to the point I have been making a noise about since I got the Punto. Why doesn't Fiat conduct a mileage drive across India? Ford, I believe, has done it twice with ACI, even with petrol Fiesta's. Even Mahindra-Renault did it with ACI for their Logan so why doesn't Fiat do it with the Punto / Linea? Think about it. If a ordinary person like me can achieve 35kmpl with ACC, what can ACI do after being sent to an all expenses paid drive across India with ACC (& stereo) switched off?!
