Hey nicely put together :wink: Last week when I had been to Mahabaleshwar with one of my friends, I handed over the car to him and for 20 mins he drove, he was just telling his wife how comfortable and connecting is to drive a FIAT. Mind you he drives a Fiesta which is also one of the best handling cars in this price bracket. I always tell my friends, a car is not a medium of transfer, its fun when you bond with your car.

Amit a very good and emotional write up. Your ownership details on TBhp was one of the factors for me to go for GP. Thanks! for that dude. If I would have gone for another car, I can now imagine what all I would have missed and missed BIG TIME.

Yesterday evening at about 8.30pm I was driving back home on the Chembur - Vashi highway and my Punto reminded me of just that. Now I do agree that the Punto MJD is no road burner and will not scorch the road on it's way from 0 to 100 and neither will it paste a huge grin on your face as you do that BUT there is more to it then 0-100 timings.

There I was, driving the car listening to Enrique on my upgraded ICE enjoying myself when suddenly I realised how sure footed the car was. Doing about 100kmph, MID was flashing between 18.xx to 21.xx constantly and all this while I was insulated from the outside noise totally. No road or wind noise & nothing rattling in the car. Sure I was below 2500rpm so engine noise was muted and under control too.

What makes Fiat's special is that they make you feel like Indian roads are much better then they actually are! No matter what joint on the road, no matter what pothole or rumbler strips or bad stretch on the road, this Fiat just brushes them all off and keeps going almost as if telling our government's blatantly corrupt road building department 'Thats it? Thats all you got? Come on I am sure you can do better then that!!'

A change of lane needed to overtake slow going traffic? I switch on the indicator and a twist to the brilliant hydraulic power steering and the Punto almost springs into action in an instant. A twist and it's changed lanes and all this with so much of solidity and sure footedness that you almost find yourself sinking into the seat thinking 'Driving in India is so easy!' And that's when I thought 'Why do people here say that Fiat's are difficult to drivve? Why do they say that Maruti and Hyundai are easy cars to drive?' This is seen more so when a car is being bought to be driven by a woman. The logic is always that Maruti / Hyundai cars are lighter and have light , easy controls so they are easy to drive. Are they? A light steering needs you to be more alert doesnt it? A twist and you may find your car changing across one and a half lane of traffic if you are not alert. I have noticed this in my SX4 with EPS. Isnt it far easier in the Punto where the car does EXACTLY what it's been told to do so? Isn't it easier to drive a car that you know will obey your command EXACTLY the way you want it to? Nothing more nothing less? Isn't it easier to drive a car that will not shake you up in your seats, jiggle you as it goes over a speedbreaker, make you disco dance in your seats as long as it's being driven!?

Whether it was climbing up a flyover, taking a curve , overtaking slow moving traffic , dealing and despatching bad roads, the Punto did everything without making you realise it's doing it leaving you all the time and freedom to enjoy whatever it is that you want to do. You can listen to music , you can enjoy the brilliant drive of this car or like me, simply hold hands of your beloved as you drive. Manual transmissions and chaotic Indian traffic don't allow you to do that you say? I do it. Take her hand and place it on the gear lever, place your hand on her's and drive. That way if you need to shift gears all the time, you still will be holding her hand. The brilliantly set up HPS of these Fiat's will allow you to drive easily with just one hand.

It's time WE took off to Lonavala. A long drive with your partner next to you and her hands in yours. Music will be switched off and we will talk about anything and everything holding hands all the way to our destination because driving is so easy in the Punto.

That's one more thing the Punto made me realize yesterday. I realized that if you drive the Punto, romance increases in your life leaving you and your partner happier human beings.

Agreed, the Grande Punto is such a wonderful Masterpiece of Automobile Engineering, that it can put to shame many other Cars within its segment and some cars above its segment when it comes to Ride & Handling. Just it needs more powerful engines to prove it mettle. And may be the GP VGT with 90HP could do the trick to silence the critics who have very less knowledge about the car itself.

When we (Myself & You) went to test drive the Punto when it was launched in 2009, it was the Love at First Sight

Somehow first i missed your thread for the S10 on TBHP, but when i discovered the thread, it was a brilliant read altogether until you parted with the Beauty. And this thread also contiues the legacy, Kudos to you, Great going and keep updating the thread regularly, i know you are so involved with the Red Beauty that now you seldom get to update the thread :mrgreen:

The thing with critics is that nothing is good enough to satisfy them. Somehow I have noticed that when it comes to Fiat, we expect them to give us the best , most powerful engines with class leading fuel efficiency and interior quality that rivals Rolls Royce at hatchback prices! I guess the bar is high for Fiat because they have a point to prove so people expect them to blitz their way into the market with a top quality product at reasonable prices.

More then the VGT, I want Fiat to launch the Punto T-Jet with 150bhp mated to a 6 speed M/T. If FIat bring this car, then my Punto MJD will be on sale for sure. Everytime I drive the car on the highway's, I feel like :hit Fiat for not offering the T-Jet from day one.

UPDATE: There are two things that I would like to update on with my car.

1.) The driver's seat has started creaking again. I don't want to go through the whole process of taking the car to Fortune, showing them the problem, they taking a test drive to confirm , ordering the part , me following up with them and then finally going again one whole day to get it changed. Does anyone here have good contacts with Fortune, Nerul or Wasan, Chembur? I want the dealers to straight away order for the driver's seat or install a new one if they have it in stock.

2.) Mileage is stuck between 15.0 to 15.7kmpl! This is down from the regular 18.0 to 18.5 kmpl that I used to get. I have to admit though that there is a lot of idling with ACC on nowadays and my driving has become a little heavy footed too.
