You can still post the labor cost and other details please.

Rs. 15k service cost is still on a higher side it seems. Pls post the break up of the costfrom the manual invoice you got.

The manual invoice does not have break up of individual parts & labour costs.

Still, I am giving the total break up below:

    Parts cost : Rs. 11,014.00

    Labour cost: Rs.3930.05

    Total: Rs.14,944

Come monsoon's and the problem I faced last monsoons is back.

On cold start's, if I turn on the lights the rpm increases to about 1200 - 1500 rpm and the 'CHECK ENGINE' light glows in the MID. I shut the engine off, remove the key & restart the car and it works normally. I then drive for about half a kilometer and turn on the lights and things are absolutely normal. Only once the check engine light came on even after the car had been driven for about 15kms.

Last year the diagnosis was accelrator pedal error. The technician removed that error and I never had the problem again through out the monsoons.

The car is booked for a check up at Fortune Motor's, Nerul on Saturday.

What's this issue? Any comments on what should be checked guys?

Spark plugs or injector /wires could be the culprit here.

This problem seems to have resolved on it's own. Very little rains means there isn't much chance of getting to test if the problem remains.

A new problem has cropped. The left front alloy wheel has cracked from inside - the car was pulling to the left immediately on leaving the steering , not sure if it was a cracked alloy that was causing it. Fortune has a new alloy for Rs.9,990. Anyone here on this forum with a Punto Emotion pack alloy for sale?

Minor niggles are seriously denting the reliablity of the car. Despite having a diesel it's the petrol City that does long highway run's.

What exactly was the problem? This issue has started again since yesterday alongwith a few other problems which I plan to get sorted out this weeek. Currently following are the problems that need to be attended to:

    - Engine rpm increases & Check Engine light comes on when parking lights are switched on.
    - New Alloy wheel needed.
    - Driver's seat base is out of it's socket. Needs to be fixed back in.
    - Gear Lever is sticky resulting in it requiring a lot of push and shove to slot into gears.

How did you find city for the past years comparing to Punto in terms of reliability?Did it show any problems and how good they are to rectify the problems?
It is the high time Fiat to concentrate more on quality checks.

The City has done a little over 31,000 kms in comparison to about 51,000 kms of the Punto. So far there have been absolutely no issues with the car, it's a perfect fill it, shut it, forget it kind of car. Only problem has been that the dealer's haven't been very honest as it cost's about Rs.5,000 per service. Maybe because it's a corporate car they take their chances with the car and resort to un-necessary charges & services.

The bigger problem is that despite having a diesel car I have to take the petrol one for long distance highway drives because the suspect reliability of the Punto has shaken my confidence in it. The entire purpose of having a diesel car is getting negated due to this. This week I am going for a small vacation and it's the City I will have to take because the Punto will be with Fiat service getting the complaints addressed. Question is what if the Punto is the only car I had?
