It all turned into an anti-climax. Gearing up to slug it out with Fortune over the paid CSC replacement, I got a call the same day in the evening that the CSC replacement was free (it bloody well should be) and that the car is ready to be picked up. Problem is the call came in at 6.15 in the evening so I told them I would pick it up tomorrow.

Invoice came to Rs.495 for a new air filter. Invoice mentions new CSC (Steel).

The underbody sound was the engine gaurd which the invoice says was re-fitted properly. The sound is gone so I guess they have it solved.

First impression is that the gears slot in so much better, so smoothly. The resistance while shifting to fifth is gone.

The jury is not yet out on this one but, oddly, the steering probably feels a wee bit lighter. I don't know if it's connected and how it's connected.

More updates as I pile on more kilometers.

At slow speeds or when stationary, when I turn my steering, there is noise seemingly from the left front side resembling a drum kinda noise. Is it the link rod , elastic pads or strut mounts?

I don't think the noise comes when I turn the car while driving but on the other hand the noise right now is very faint so maybe it gets' drowned in the road noise.

If the sound is only when you turn the steering wheel, may be it is the elastic pads.

Elastic pads it is. I've been through one set at 27k running, seems like another replacement is due at 44k. I'm not sure if it is covered in extended warranty though. Ridiculously short life span if it is the case. Fiat, Fiat what are you doing?

I had the same kind of sound and SE said it was due to the strut bush being weak and got it replaced in the 3rd service, now its fine..

The Fiat service saga is getting really ridiculous day by day. I just called up Fortune's Nerul service center for an appointment to check the front suspension sound and they said the earliest date they can allot me is October 28! That's 8 days from now for a minor repair job! Who in their right mind's would buy a Fiat?!

I got a waiting period of 7 days just to get the leakage around the power steering oil reservoir checked.

Needless to say, upon hearing such a ludicrous waiting period, i never went. Will top up when the level goes down :p
