A real four door coupe with an adventurous spirit" is the description Fiat provides for its new FCC4 design study.

Prepared for this year's São Paulo Motor Show by Fiat Design Center Latam, the FCC4 experiments with a hybrid design ethic that spans several styles of vehicle. It starts off simply enough, as the front three quarters take on the role of a sedan set high off the ground to shoot over top any jutting ground hazards below.

India is a shallow market and will like any crap from Maruti rather than a quality product.

The investor presentation from just a few days ago, made by FCA in Switzerland to reiterate that it is on target and on-plan as far as their 'promises' to investors at the May 2014 global investor presentation of FCA's 5-year plan (that lasted a full day!), contains: under 'LatAm', mention of a pickup, but none of a B-CUV. The B-Cuv was mentioned in the original May plan: to be developed on the lightened Palio platform, and to be offered in India too in 2016.

If only this FCC4 concept, full of design quotations of everything from the fiat 500, the original and new Panda 4x4, and even Jeep, especially the new Cherokee, presaged that b-suv for India! And that pickup for LatAm, sitting above and bigger than the brawny-beautiful-yet-small pickup the Strada/Ram 750.

Problem is: the new presentation, unlike the original May 2014 one, makes no mention of the b-cuv (NOT the 500X, sitting below it in fact), but does emphasize the pickup, which reports from 'FCA insiders' on the internet suggest, will be built at the cutting-edge new plant in Perambuco (?), Brazil, on the same platform and line as the Jeep Renegade.

So: assuming that there is a b-suv coming to India in 2016 as stated repeatedly, and if there's no such vehicle for Brazil till 2016 mentioned:

    (a) either it, like the Avventura, will be an India-special, called Avventura? Sub-4m? Which will be just fine, just give it the styling of this concept, FCA! Same, albeit lightened etc platform as the Indian Punto/Linea, namely the great old Palio one. Same suspension architecture too: just fine, class best by a long way, as the current Fiats are already. BUT: faster, faster, jaldi karo. ;)

OR (b) the b-suv in question for India has now been decided to be the....awesome 500X!

I suspect the truth is (a) BUT with the usual delays.

What it CAN and SHOULD be from a sales and exports and profits and brand perspective be is: BOTH!;)

Remember: the tooling and assembly line for the Jeep C-SUV to be manufactured, localized, in Ranjangaon is likely the same as that of the 500X, since the two cars are close siblings, along with the Renegade. But it's true that the manufacturing quality standards will be very demanding for the Jeep (and 500X), under Marchionne's WCM ('world-class manufacturing') mandate, which he has been strictly implementing in Italy, Poland, Serbia, the US, and now at the brand-new, cutting-edge, giant Brazilian facility mentioned earlier, where the Renegade et al will be made starting very soon.

I do fervently hope, then, that Fiat's looking at bringing the 500X here asap, which can be before the c-suv scheduled only for very late 2016/early 2017? Alongwith the other, cheaper B-Suv, especially IF it looks like this FCC4 concept.

Do it mainly for the profitable export possibilities (like the Ecosport and the Duster/Terrano and indeed that Jeep planned for Indian manufacture) but do it FCA!, and thereby offer it viably, profitably, here too?!

We all realize FCA is risk-averse financially in India, given its difficult history here, but this just seems viable, and profitable, because of exports, and therefore a low-risk new launch if there ever was one, no, FCA?!:cigar:

'Ummeed pe hum Fiat fans kaayam hain...!':D

PS: Most of the above is meant ONLY in the spirit of internet gossip/chatter fertilization, since...what do we really know, eh?:p Especially about budgets, risk and cost/benefit analysis, or the logistics of manufacture at the Ranjangaon plant.

This is a knockout looking Brazilian truck, the final production version of the fcc4 concept, to be built off the Jeep Renegade/500X small-US-wide platform, same engines and transmissions too, apparently.

The final design references/quotes the 500's moustache, the Jeep Cherokee's slim headlights, the Cherokee+Panda+500L/X three levels and planes of front-lamps, the Strada rear end, etc. Fantastic! The front grill looks a bit gratuitous in size, though.

The Fiat b-suv promised for India, then, possibly with a different looking Jeep twin?, is looking extremely rollickingly GOOD, then (as usual), if such are its styling cues (FCC4 concept based). It too is being styled and engineered in Brazil (off a lightened Palio platform, though).

I dearly hope FCA showcases a concept of it at the AutoExpo 2016, with production for say early 2017 at worst?!

    (please use Google translate)

The pickup based off the ravishing fcc4 concept is nearing launch in Brazil, and potentially not just for exports to other LatAm markets and/or some European ones, but potentially also to the US as a Ram ('Rampage')?

It shares its platform and its powertrain with the Jeep Renegade, 500X, upcoming Jeep c-suv, Aegea etc.

There will apparently be a C-suv version of it too, branded a Fiat, a twin of the Jeep C-suv 9also to be locally made here in India), for Brazil/LatAm.

AND, a higher version of it for Europe and/or possibly the US too (Fiat Freemont/Dodge Journey replacement?)

As ever, the question for us is: is the 'New Avventura' promised and planned for India for end 2016/2017, this same c-suv, possibly as a 6/7-seater?, or some entirely other, cheaper and much smaller model?

In any case, the suv equivalent of this fcc4 pickup for/from Brazil could in the future be easily made to great costing/pricing targets, since it will share so much with the localized Jeep Renegade and C-Suv at Ranjangaon. IF there were to be a market for it as a Fiat rather than as a Jeep at d2-segment price points.

Oh, don't worry, we will all see this in India next year when Hyundai rips the same design off and brings out the Cretan Cross CUV with a pink sunroof.

A source from an international forum, an Italian 'insider' you might say and I tend to believe, confirms the following:

Brazil is getting this pickup (based off the fcc4 concept) soon, named TORO.

Brazil will soon get a new A-segment car, a sort-of new 'Topolino'.

The all-new Palio and Uno are progressing, in terms of development, on the pre-announced schedule. This is relevant to India since the new Palio or rather a version of it off the same platform and architecture is what is planned for India for 2017.

However, he says that a b-suv (smaller and notably cheaper and simpler than the Renegade and 500X) are as yet just ideas or hypotheses, as far as he is aware.

And it is true that we've seen no mule testing of one, nor is there any gossip/speculation about one in the Brazilian or Italian automag websites.

Ergo: the Indian 'New Avventura' is the SUV version of this TORO pickup truck, i.e., much bigger and more expensive than the current Avventura?

Or: just a seriously CROSS-ed version of the New Punto for India (=new Brazilian Palio?) that debuts too in 2017, off a lightened and more spacious version of the Palio platform ('X3U')?

This last is what Autocar's Hormardz Sorabjee 'scooped', twice, quoting FCA Asia-Pac sources, or so it sounded to me.

However, it SHOULD be the former, imo. Maybe, even BOTH, as Suzuki is doing with both the S Cross and the 2016 sub-4m Brezza small-cuv, in 2017.

FCA had better have a 'concept vehicle' version of it, either way, on display and for ogling, touching, feeling and reporting at the AutoExpo, feb 2016!

These images from the pernambuco plant in brazil are of one (lower?) variant of the launching-soon TORO, the c-segment pickup for latin america, and possibly also to be exported to the US as a RAM small (by American 'lifestyle' standards) pickup truck.

There WILL also be an SUV version of the TORO, a c-suv, Fiat branded twin of the JEEP c-suv. Just like say Toyota do with the hilux truck AND the Fortuner.

The Jeep c-suv is confirmed for local indian manufacture at or below fortuner prices, so it is unlikely the Toro Fiat c-suv will come here. My own guess is that we'll be getting (as the 'new Avventura') the crossover version of the Agea hatchback? And, hopefully, at least in 2018, the 500X?!
