Will Fiat sell Avventura Kit for the Punto owners? That will sell better than the Avventura.
Overdrive has test driven Avventura -
Few significant points -
It looks almost as radical as its conceptual avatar!
A rugged bodywork and updated suspension setup.
It employs the Punto Evo’s base design.
The distinction is the spare wheel on the tailgate. It’s hinged over the rear bumper and operates independently of the boot lid.
Complementing the adventure-vehicle styling are roof rails, cladding on the doors and the complimentary matte black treatment even for the grille and door handles.
The most prominent change in interiors are the compass and clinometers on the centre console.
The dashboard and the door trim have leather textured inlays.
New seat upholstery is essentially made up of leatherette material, but since the contact areas of the base and the backrest are prone to making you sweat, they are made from fabric.
The most important is the stiffer suspension setup when compared to the Punto Evo.
A class-leading ground clearance of 205mm.
All variants of the Avventura will ship with 16-inch alloys, which means all of them will get the grippier 205-section rubber.
As far as engines are concerned, Fiat is dropping the 1.2-litre petrol FIRE and the 75PS variant of the 1.3-litre Multijet Diesel engine from the Avventura lineup. This being a more premium offering, it will go with the range topping 1.4-litre petrol FIRE and the 90PS Multijet diesel.
Fiat can at least tune the engine to 102 Ps.
Even though the overall package look better than that of Ecosport, it will be branded as Punto with high GC and a boot wheel. There is nothing to differentiate between Avventura and Punto mechanically. Either they should have designed all new car with the same engine or with different engine option in the current Avatar. They failed in both. Fiat will have hard time to brand this as CUV or mini-SUV or whatever.
Ford is very clever. Ecosport is not big but it clearly stands out from their hatch. The question is not about which is better. Avventura may be better but difficult to market and compete with Ecosport.
From outside Avventura will look different, even though if you see carefully, not much different from Punto EVO. Actually with increased GC, of 205 mm and with plastic cladding, looks is the only thing, Fiat has offered.
Not sure what prevented from putting T-Jet engine, instead of FIRE. Cost? May be, but people will prefer T-Jet, compared to FIRE on CUV. With decreasing cost of Petrol, they can focus on T-Jet to market well.
I think rail roof and black plastic cladding on sides, can be made available for Punto owners to experiment .
Just cosmetic changes is not everything...
Indian customers are not fools..
AUTOCAR has posted the first drive report-----
Avventura Success on its way.
It really stands out when compared with ugly etios and aggressive polo cross.Good job FIAT.
yeah! will queue for one..
In India...anything that has a rear mouted spare wheel is either a Scooter or an SUV....so at a lesser price point avventura does have an edge over ecosport...this will anyway and has already destroyed the etios and polo crosses...
