and it will look like that every time Fiat plans a new product keeping in mind the features offered by competition.
till the time FIAT product hits showrooms it becomes outdated as the competition had already moved ahead with best turn around times.
also while they postponed JEEP launch by year or two who have stopped them from full preparation of upto 95% localization in those years, and now instead of launching CKD and CBU they will be having the pricing comfort of local manufacturing. why they are not thinking ahead of time always : dumb and dude fellows:rage::mad:

FIAT does not able to bring the 1.6 MJD in last 2-3 years, meanwhile honda developed their 1.5 IDtec back with bang, just one engine driving their 70 % sales.

what FIAT has offered us is again a new Linea with 1.3 Mjd SHAME SHAME.
It seems like the top management is also like minded with our friend Prabhjot.

One thing I would also like to add, despite of being very immature in field of automobiles,as comparing to you guys,IF A COMPANY has invested so hugely on opening new fiat showrooms,I know it will make every effort to make a comeback, because these big firms only invest such huge amount of money after very intensive research ,and they have big plans.

@Aviral singh Do not count on it. It may be another of their dumb moves. All these showrooms have two products to sell -Punto and Linea both of which have not done well for Fiat.

also for delearships FIAT does not do any investment, it comes from dealers only, so its upto the dumb management of company to give them good returns of to take them to losses, to me it does not seems that any of the dealership right now will be profitable.

I wonder what the fiat r&d (if there is any) has been doing in India all these years. The sub 4m sedan and mini SUV market has been booming since more than 3 years and they still do not seem to be interested in waking up to the market. The least they can do now is to launch completely new facelifted punto and linea while they bring in other products.

    FIRST, the dealers and ASS.

ONLY then, the new thorough facelifts of existing cars + a terrific new variant, the Avventura (was near the Gurgaon Fiat showroom a couple of hours ago, saw a family take a test drive, the car sure looks brilliant. It sure rides etc etc etc brilliant. It sure IS a compact 'SUV' i.e., a crossover. It sure has prompted even that great manufacturer of 'Korean-premium' cars, Hyundai, into preparing to launch a 'cross' version of their over-rated and over-sold hatch the i20..er..'Elite' :)

    ONLY then: all-new launches (2016) + JEEP (2015 onwards)

ONLY then: a big jump in sales numbers, which I keep pointing out to you guys are up 50% year-to-date, while everyone else (bar the East Asian gang of three) including Ford and advertising champion VW is down 25-40%.

That's the ONLY way to do it. No point launching this or that new model if the dealerships and therefore brand are not better-re-established.

Yes, even more and even better marketing and advertising. They've been doing a lot better throughout the year (from the make the move ads to helo life to the Avventura launch ad and others), much more and better stuff needed next year. Remember: this is a marketplace populated by automotive fools who have even lost the ability to suss out a great vfm deal, out of resale value, ASS assurance and other such anxious fetishes.

Keyboard-warrior-management-consultants though we all are!: no point putting the cart before the bullocks.;):p

New engines, new variants and all-new launches are all coming, some are already here: that seems to be the whole point of replacing Nagesh and the marketing head.

This last almost 2-year long setting-up-new-dealers and re-launching-the-brand-and-the-extant cars was always going to be the really tough phase, as it would've been for any brand-relaunch.

IMO it has gone off as well as they should've expected, given the culture prevalent in our marketplace, though worse than they would've hoped, am sure.

ONLY starting now through to the end of 2016 does the soaring sales aspirations that we all have on Fiat's behalf even begin to be plausible.

The Avventura+Evo (the same car, some say, as if the Honda City+Jazz aren't? Amaze+Mobilio? Xcent+i10? Swift+Desire+Ritz+Ertiga?) will have grown Punto-alone sales by 200-300 at least, as the Jan and Feb sales figures wll prove.

Meanwhile: Fiat's quite profitable in India (unlike most other firms not excluding Honda and Toyota), what's the worry? Other than the fact that we know better than the actual managers;):p, who as Nagesh has discovered, actually have their jobs and careers on the line :(

I think @Aviral singh is right: they've shown commitment by implementing the brand-and-dealers-relaunch plan (a difficult job) from 2 years ago quite well, and on schedule, albeit with a couple of serious errors, like not launching the Avventura BEFORE the Evo.

The growth phase starts in Jan 2015. IF the market allows it. They'll be trying hard, and hopefully better (T-jet Avventura+Punto Evo, anyone?)

    @prabhjot,

heard a evo and Avvy with T-Jet engines have arrived in Chennai. Brakes India seems to have asked the vehicles. These cars are parked at RDC, Ambattur Service Outlet, Chennai.

A fiatn personally went and checked but was prevented from taking pictures as it is highly confidential. So, expect to own one soon in 2015 and enjoy the thrill of driving.

From Rajeev Kapoor to Enrico Atanasio to Nagesh Basavanhalli to Pablo Rosso, FIAT India has had frequent change of head in the recent years, more than their product models, which is not good for any corporate to survive in the present economic situation, especially for FIAT India, which is in ICU already.
