Check this latest news about Linea and Punto replacement at cartoq.com

A timeline for the Fiat Aegea sedan’s Europe debut has just been revealed. The sedan, which will replace the Linea globally, will hit the production line at Fiat’s Turkey factory in November this year, followed by a countrywise European debut later this year. The Aegea sedan will not be a solitary car though. It will be followed by hatchback and stationwagon variants. As far as India is concerned, the Aegea sedan and its hatchback sibling will replace the Linea and the Punto Evo here.

FCA have not said a word on this car being for anywhere other than Europe-MiddleEast-Africa (EMEA). Other than that, as presumed by many well-informed 'insiders' in the US as the (most likely) Chrysler 100 Corolla/Civic fighter in the USA+Canada as well as a Dodge sporty hatchback there).

Their plan says Grand Sienna for India, new Punto + new Avventura CUV for India, much smaller and cheaper than the Aegea and its hatch version, off a lightened Palio platform and not off the SUSW on which the Aegea (like the 500X and Renegade) is built. This plan has been twice, including recently and including these details, confirmed by quoted sources at FCA to Autocar India.

Cartoq is kite-flying. The sourced article quoted for the news, from a highly reputed industry insider news and analytics organization, Automotive News, has nothing at all to say about the Aegea etc in/for India, Brazil, China either, so....

When it comes to news about future industry facts/actions/events, scoops, i believe ONLY Autocar can be accepted as far auto websites/magazines go, because their record with that sort of stuff (rather than, always, their reviews/comparo-s etc) really is excellent, over many years. The rest are kite-flyers, rumour-mongers, link-this-and-that story type operations.

Agree with your logic Prabhjot. I am not a regular visitor to these sites so was not aware about the credibility of news published. Anyways, Aegea looks good and could be a good option for India to compete with Corolla/Civic.

I don't think Aegea would be priced near to Current linea's price. It seems a segment higher than linea. Fiat have wonderful chance now to plonk 1.6 Mjd on Linea. That will be good enough to survive in India.
May be they wait till 1.6 is localized as chances are high that Maruti use 1.6 MJD in their following Product line.

The Aegea hatchback looks like the Mercedes A class!! better than the sedan.

Both hatch and sedan looks stunning. The sedan looks great like BMW 3 series. Fiat should launch these models very soon to have a premium Brand Image.

The mule, with Linea+punto dummy external parts, of the Aegea 'hatch' is clearly not a hatch but a higher-riding crossover, probably the replacement for the Fiat freemont/Dodge Journey. At least not to my eye. There's a recent image of it from a few days ago on Autocar UK.

Now, there is a confirmed Fiat-branded c-suv, a twin of the Jeep C-suv (the one planned to be locally madein india in 2017) undergoing testing in Brazil, alongwith a lifestyle pickup truck twin too (launching soon), all to be made off the same-as-Aegea-Renegade-500X etc platform: the SUSW, with similar powertrains too.

So whether THAT pretty big, bigger than Duster, c-suv (either the Brazilian one or the Aegea crossover, same platform and engines etc, remember) is the 'New Avventura' for India in 2017 (as per the plan) or not, it will be easy enough for FCA to locally manufacture the Aegea Crossover (new Fiat Freemont/Dodge Journey? Panda XL?), since it will share so much with both the Renegade and the c-suv apparently commited-to for 2017 manufacturing here in india?

That would make market-prospect sense, too, especially if exports are also likely: a large Fiat/Italian-styling SUV, say the size of the S Cross/Duster/Creta or a fait bit bigger, priced at say 13-16 lakhs could find takers, and should through parts sharing and exports-volumes be very well-priced?

The Aegea sedan, sadly, would seem impossible to make financially viable in the Indian market, since it is, like the Renault Fluence, more a d-segment vehicle than the current Linea, and in any case demand for d-segment sedans is really getting chewed up by the move, above and below, towards SUV/CUVs.
