    They're finally offering even the 1.3 and the 1.6 mjd2-s on the 3xAegea models with the dual dry clutch transmission (ddct). The prices in Turkey relative to their Linea will give us a clue as to its possible costing in/for India? Who knows, given the intense economies of scale of the mjd2 and with the localized 1.4 t-jet too.....the Aegea becomes viable as a sub-d-segment offering in India (i.e., 10-13/14 lakhs)?

    Mefeels it's all a question of sewing up export markets for engines, transmissions, other components and/or fully-built rhd Aegea sedan/cross-hatch (and other SUSW platform models, also: the Jeep C-suv and/or Renegade?) Then things really do get viable for not a desultory and weak-voiced attempt at success at the Indian market but....

    a nice loud firecracking, low risk-decent-chance-of-profits assault on it! With some pretty compelling USPs to offer, even beyond the usual safety, build, ride handling etc ones.

    Aegea sedan, Aegea hatch/cross ('New Avventura'), Jeep C-Suv, Jeep B-suv and/or 500L/X, new Aegea-based susw Palio/Punto: 2017 and 2018. One or two Abarth versions thereof, too, just as currently (soon). And topped off by one or two ckd/cbu models: 595 Abarth, say, or the 124 Spider, or the Abarth 500X?

    Which would match their five plan announced 2 years ago and which they're following so far here and elsewhere pretty strictly if with some delays, except that....

    instead of the cut-price EM stuff planned (New Grand Sienna...), we'd get adaptations of the European/Turkish non-500, 'rational and economical, IKEA-like' lineup: i.e., the Aegea cars and the 500X or L.

    Kevin Flynn said in that great interview to S Patankar of ndtv that they were "figuring out their platform strategy" in the context of their global network of plants, supply chains and market needs.

    Sure hope they've found that the costing/pricing/economies-of-scale/exports/etc sums favour this sort of product launch series and timing, 2017 through to the last year of their 5-year plan, 2018!

    Else the FIAT brand fate in India will prove sealed, or so one fears, and FCA will be defined in India by the JEEP, and the other FCA luxury/sports brands, instead, as well as merely a canny, profitable engine etc supplier.

    This car might suit the Indian Market well, but from the initial reports its nothing like the Linea to drive around (read as driver centric). This may just suit the Indian Masses and rake in decent volumes. All this only if Fiat decides gets it act together in launching a vehicle faster than taking a few years.

    I have 1 question, say FIAT India announces that Aegea/Tipo will come here by say mid 2017, and in 2016 they upgrade current Linea say "powered by Abarth" then what will you do?

    If this situation comes, then definitely I will be in big dilemma. My current Punto is due for change, my heart says Abarth, but practicality wise I prefer Linea/Aegea powered by Abarth (yes if its only powered by Abarth ~ 140 BHP).

    Upto 80 kgs lighter than the linea and with a claimed 80% increase in torsional rigidity: i bet it drives/rides/handles brilliantly.

    The first drive review by Autocar UK, a mag that fetishizes handling to the point of absurdity in all their reviews, and that is definitely somewhat-hostile a priori to FCA models (as their unlike-most-other reviews of everything from the Panda and 500 to the Jeep Cherokee reveal) while being very solicitous, no doubt for commercial and nationalistic reasons, of Ford, JLR and VW, is no guide at all for a hypothetical Indian Aegea/Tipo. They were impressed by the quality, refinement and comfort, though, s they will surely be by its pricing, which will be well below say the Ford Focus or the VW Golf/Jetta or Skoda Octavia.

    FCA turkey has (pre-)sold 20000 Aegea/Tipo sedans, already, it seems.

    Question is: is there a large enough market for a FIAT sedan, no matter how stylish and high-qulity, at say 12-15 lakhs, in India, come 2017? Only if huge brand repair and promotion ctivities carry on continuously till then, and only if the dealer cum ASS scene is optimised further?

    It my be that FCA in India will be better served by a focus on the Aegea's platform nd powertrain siblings: the crossovers and suv-s, namely the 500L/the 500X/the Renegade, plus the aegea hatch/cross as a lower cost 'New Avventura'? The sedan market in the d segment has been destroyed by crossovers, and a similar if less strong contraction of the c2 segment sedan mrket is very likely as well.

    How I wish if it could get launched in India? Willing to trade in my TJet for this even though Egea doesn't seem to be as able a handler as Linea is. Its interiors are just awesome!
