It's been very long since I went on a trip and wrote a travelogue. Finally, got time to get away in US and we traveled to the Rocky Mountains in the state of Colorado.

Some teaser pictures before I start the travelogue. :)

When I started to plan for a trip, I was sure about not to visit any Cities. Only then I decided on Rocky mountains as it was around 560 miles from my base location, Omaha. I decided to drive down to the tourist town of Estes Park located in the Rocky Mountain national park. It was actually four day trip with 2 days for driving onward and return. I did this trip in the first weekend of May. I also decided to rent a bigger car as my 05' Civic may not that comfortable for a long drive. Made a reservation with Enterprise and I got 12' Nissan Altima. First day of the trip was not that eventful as we were only travelling for the whole day. We started at 10 AM and reached Estes Park at 8pm (Note that my base location and the destination have different time zones, Central and Mountain Time).

Some pictures of my drive taken en route.

We had very good rest after long travel on Day 1.

We got up late on Friday and had the breakfast (complimentary) at our place of stay itself. I decided to drive in and around Estes Park (and Rocky Montain Nataional Park) for the day and drove towards an attraction 'Bear Lake'. I had to take the 'Trail Ridge Road' and then divert to the Bear Lake. Trail ridge road was closed for the season and will re-open only towards end of May. $20 need to be paid to enter the roads inside the Rocky Mountains and the ticket is valid for a week. We reached Bear Lake only to find that it is completely frozen and visitors were busy in hiking. After roaming for a while, we came back to the town for lunch. I already knew that there is a Nepalese Restaurant there and I headed straight to the 'Nepal Cafe'. We chose the buffet and the food was really good. They served 'hot chai' along with the lunch and they kept filling our glasses. We came back to our hotel for some rest and again we started to roam after 5 pm and came back to rest at 10pm.
