It's been a while since people have been requesting for a "OIL Filter change -DIY"

Guru's: can some one take sometime and post a step by step guide to Replacing the OIL Filter in a Punto/Linea. Would be really helpful.

I tried to see the whole process while the mechanic was doing it and think i can open it up and check it out but just want to be sure i don't screw up anything in the process. I guess i can just try opening it up and check out before i choose another day to replace the Engine oil and the filter since i need to procure Allen Key's/Torque wrenches to open up the Oil drain nut.

    Excellent. That looks easy.

Any alternative tools that can be used instead of the 27 mm Socket to open up the inner cap of the filter? Else i'll have to hunt on Ebay for the right set of tools.

How about the diesel filter change? Can it be done easily - is it a DIY job ?

You can use a 27mm ring spanner or open ended spanner too but due to limited space available you would have to keep removing and refitting the spanner wihch takes some extra time when compared to a socket with a handle which you can rotate 360 degree freely.

Yes it's a 15-20 min job and is very easy.
Just take the engine cover off, remove water presence sensor open the 10mm bolt holding diesel filter in place, remove the pipes by pressing the tab. Put new filter in place and tighten it and put pipes and water sensor back and turn the ignition to MAR and wait till all warning lights go off (would take some extra time than it does normally as it's priming the diesel lines) and than crank the engine.
