Congrats. Showroom people should make sure that the car is clean during delivery. This is one point in feedback form.
First remove the dust and then use soft cloth and water for further wash.

@Relativity however you manage, scratches may happen one day or another. Sorry to disappoint you. Well you can do the wash for yourself. If your car shampoo is not wax based, you can use it on the windshield as well. But please use seperate MF cloth for windshield, upperbody & lower body. Yes that makes 3 MF cloth & this ensures maximum scratch free wash. If you are careful enough you can make it to 2 ie one for windshield & the other for whole body. But make sure you wash the upper portion (ie almost till the centre portoin of each doors as below that there will be more dirt) first, clean the MF thoroughly & then continue to the lower portion. Again for the wheel cup /alloys you can use ordinary cotton cloth. For drying purpose too you will need another good MF cloth. Waxing can be done in an interval of 3-6 month based on the product you use .

Thanks Cinju. The Formula 1 shampoo says it has wax in it so I am guessing it can't be used on the windscreen. any tricks to keep it off the windscreen and what happens if it accidentally gets there?

I will buy a wax free shampoo soon. Will also get a few more MF clothes as advised. for now I have 1 and I just bought a VIP vest today as I couldn't find anything else in Big Bazaar. How about Scotch Brite Spong Wipes? Are they any good?

Yaar you need not worry too much. I was only telling that you shouldn't apply it directly on to the windscreen. While washing, if it gets into the windscreen, just wash it off. You can continue with your current shampoo. No need to buy a new one for the time being. For windshield wash it with clean water & you can wipe it dry with a news paper (the traditional way..) or a MF cloth. Vest is also ok for the time being. Scotch Brite sponges may be little harsher for the clear coat. For cleaning you get a different type of sponge. Even though I am also using a sponge for washing, car detailing experts would prefer MF cloth than sponge for washing the reason being there are more chances of this dirt getting settled into these tiny pores of sponge & this may cause scratches on the paint job.

Relativity, i can understand the anxiousness associated with a new car. And, some swirls here and there are really inevitable in the not so long run unless we detail our cars like professionals do. So, just take it in your stride and don't give it much thought.

In other words, take a chill pill, mate. :)

Thanks for the chill pill, kinda needed it.
Sun Film question - What is the difference in regular Sun Film priced at 1,500 for all 4 windows Vs 3M priced at about 15,000?

Better heat rejection. We need to pay for energy and we need to pay more to reject it

how about purchasing a hand-held wind-shield wiper. you must have seen people using that at filling pumps. they are just awesome. they clean the wind-shield so good that one would be doubtful if there is any glass thing at all:rolleyes:. most importantly, in no time. i use that not only on windshield but on whole car to dry it absolutely in single minute with no watermarks what so ever:mrgreen:. got one@rs.100 from a pump only.

I haven't seen any in Chennai but saw something like that by Scotch Brite in Big bazaar. sound good, let me go take a look over the weekend.
Another question - What kind of windshield cleaning fluid goes in the car, regular liquid detergent will do or something else. The one that it sprays when you pull the right hand stalk towards the steering.
