Collinite is a much respected manufacturer - you cannot just go wrong with their products. If you can get your hands on their pre-wax cleaner, do get that. If there is some kind of difficulty, you can look at other good brands like Mothers, Meguirs, poor boys etc.

A cheap and easy way to clean brake dust is to simply flush it out every week when you wash the car .
Just push a jet of water between the alloy spokes and you will see tons of black dirt falling off. Make sure you spray this jet till you see that that water color is not black(filled with carbon) . Then after the car is fully washed just go out for a small drive where you repeatedly apply the brakes to get rid of any water lodged in the discs(To prevent rust).
    That's it.

Saw microfibre cloth and anti-skid mats at MK Retail, CMH Road. Price of anti-skid mats starts from Rs.35. Microfibre cloth/gloves price starts at Rs.65. Just sharing this info for those who may be interested.

@thulasi: Thank you for the info. Was there any brand on the MF cloth \ gloves? did you get a feel of the cloth? how do you compare them to the 100 rs 3M yellow MF cloth?

OT: when I first brought the anti skid mats few years back (i think about 4 years or more) it was priced at just 15 rs for a square (mouse pad like) pad - when the demand shot up, the price increased many folds..

Thulasi it is always preferable to go for branded Microfiber cloth . The reason being quality matters :).

@Cinju: Agree that, but no harm in having couple of low price MF if the are good in quality - you can always use them for rough jobs like cleaning the running board, wheels etc.

You are right Anoop. What I wanted to convey was specific about those yellow clothes which you get locally . They do more harm than good. It loses its yellow color when you dip it in water, if you use it dry on the running board or wheels you will see yellow cloth dust everywhere. Sorry for the confusion.

The Jopasu duster mentioned in this thread is really good. It does not scratch the paint and it cleans the car of dust very easily. Those multi coloured fluffy dusters are a real waste as mentioned by VahanPujari.

Guys, after a lot of struggle, I have finally managed to clean the windshield of all the dried water marks. After using Collins, Harpic, Prill liquid, diluted vinegar and what not, I successfully removed all rigid water marks with toothpaste. The procedure I followed was very similar to waxing the car. I first rubbed a thin layer and buffed off the entire toothpaste with a soft cotton cloth, which rendered the windshield crystal clear. However, donot use those gel-types. The ones that are white in colour are the best suited.
