CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD TO UNDERSTAND HOW SNUGLY THE AIR FILTER IS FIT IN THE BOX. SURPRISED TO HAVE FOUND BASIC FLAWS.

THERE IS NO CLAMPING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE AIR FILTER BOX RENDERING SOME UNFILTERED AIR TO PASS THROUGH.

POSTED SOME PHOTOS. NEED VIEWS AND REVIEWS PLEASE.

THERE ARE NO FASTENERS FROM BELOW TO KEEP UNFILTERED AIR AWAY.

I seriously dont see the need of fasteners from below the box. Same arrangement is on the MJD. The filter element has rubber edge which is sandwiched perfectly in the recess of the air filter box and its cover. There is no scope of air entering through this.
Also the top cover 3 screws perfectly hold the filter element pressed.

From those pics it looks like the air filter isnt sitting properly.
as for the design flaw (which I dont think is the case) that gap is enough for water to enter.

    that isnt normal IMO.
Have you shown this at a service centre and asked their opinion?

WIN, why dont you compare a couple of puntos to yours? and check if the gap is this inconsistent?

If it isnt, then ask them to give you a new filter box, irrespective of the warranty, they should do this out of good will, as yours seems to be a defective one.

If all fiat boxes are like this, do a DIY fixing, the solution to your problem is more important, it ends your annoyance.
