On Saturday morning, I discovered the front Passenger tyre has a puncture, got it fixed from the road side tyre shop near my house, while reparing the puncture guy saw the rim has a crack due to which air was escaping :A :A .

Went to FORTUNE Powai today (SA: Rajendran) and talked to him about the ruptured Alloy rim, he is saying since the alloy has got bent due to some impact (Great Potholes of Mumbai) and there is crack due to this reason, the alloy will not covered under warranty. Now I am left with the option of buying a new alloy which is about 11K :A :A . Guys, don't know what to do. The car is currenty running on the spare wheel (steel rim). Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear of the damage.

Someone on the forum was planning to sell his alloys, don't remember who it was. See if he sells one piece.

Many owners replace the OE alloys so check the tyre shops in your locality. It will be cheaper than OE.

Did you drive rough over the potholes ?

its all potholed road left in Mumbai now :A :A , actually it seems the tyre had a puncture and then I drove with low air pressure over some potholes, there few nasty potholes on the Eastern Express highway (some real nasty ones in between the smooth high speed surface).

I have droped a message on the thread you are talking of, but I think that person might already have sold off (he posted in June)

I had my alloys bent two months back after i drove through a freaking huge gutter. I took it to a guy who molds iron and stuff and he heated it and made it fine. I still use those alloys and have had no probz so far. I dont think insurance covers alloys.

Your profile says "GP Emotion". I thought you were talking of after market Alloys.
It is better to check with local alloys and tyre shops. You may find OE Fiat alloys. You'll have to buy a set of 4 alloys though as he won't sell 1 alloy and end up with 3 alloys with himself.
On a positive side, you may even get 4 OE alloys in the after market at the price of 1 new alloy from Fiat.

Only con is that one needs to buy all four alloys from these shops.

Arvind : what did you finally do? I guess I wasn't aware of this aspect that the alloys might get damaged when going over potholes. Blore is a city full of potholes !!!

Arvind is travelling, so could not update. I just spoke to him, he got insurance covered on that alloy and got the replacement. He has not yet fitted on his car but will do so as he comes back from his trip.

    Cheers!
