    Hello Everybody,

Today I replaced clutch kit of my Punto-2009. It has run nearly 53,000 km.
Not sure if this is good life or need to improve my driving maneuver. ;)

    Bye.

    Hi Ahmed,
Why did you change the clutch ? I am asking this question as I have been told by FASS to change my 20k run clutch  !!! That is also without much issue.
When I asked they said gear shifting will be smooth
In Bangalore traffic a clutch anything near 60k is good but people have clocked 70-80k to a lakh in Linea/Punto and reported in this forum.
But I have seen many people change it at 40-50 range at least once, especially city cars.
Did you change it in a FASS ? How much they charged total ? They told me 9k for clutch change all inclusive for LINEA.

Shifting gears became hard on my Punto and had to replace the clutch at 38,000km and cost me Rs 9000.

I always had my doubt here, is clutch kit replacement the only solution for hard gear shift ? When clutch is disengaged by pressing the pedal and while changing gear,
is it the clutch doesn't disengage properly due to some fault in the clucth kit assembly ? and causing the gear shifting hard ?
Is it the pressure plate, clutch disc , bearing or the hydraulic system ? Is the faulty part cannot be corrected specifically or should be always changed as a whole unit ?
Expert Fiatians , please provide more information please.

In Bangalore, 4k is charged as labor and another 4k+ for the part.

LINEA MJD clutch change is 9k ( I think 5.3k + 3.7k) all inclusive. It may be cheaper for petrol cars.

Median life for most clutch plates in Palio, Siena too has been 42 to 55k kms in most cases.

I have seen clutch plates in Linea gone at 30k kms as well.

Considering that your clutch plate has lasted good it seems. Generally single person driven vehicles and
rightly used clutches or proper gear shifts result in longer clutch life.
