This scenic route is preferable. Most of the route from Kumily onwards is in ghat section. The roads on either side of Kumily were bad in April 2011. I don't know their present status. Don't worry. No bottom-scraping at all in this route.

Many bad sections in this busy route. Thoppur ghat road near Dharmapuri has gone from bad to worse with mound-like wavy road surface. If driven carelessly, will be penalised with bottom-scraping!
