    Being the gadget freak that I am, :wink: I got this Car DVR. It reached couple of days back and I fixed it on the car. The device keeps recording while you drive the car and the output is pretty decent. Night time clarity is also acceptable.
    The camera accepts SD cards up to 32GB in size.
    It records in two minute blocks, each file about 85-90MB in size. The size seems to vary with the speed of the car. Faster you go, larger the file. One hour of video takes about 2.3 to 2.5 GB. Once the memory card is full, It overwrites the oldest file.

    ::pP I am still not fully convinced about the benefits and usefulness of this, it is pretty certain that you will not go through the files unless something interesting happens along the way. Attaching a video clip from the camera below. At 43 sec into the clip, you can see a black Punto coming across.

    The insurance companies install similar camera's which activate when there is a sudden shift in the G forces (in case of accident) when you suddenly brake to avoid accident or when the airbags deploy...

    So when the shift happens, the camera' activates and records some 45 secs -1 mins so it captures the whole accident and can be later used for insurance claims, legal settlements.. stuff like that..

    As for us Indians... if there is a legal case or you want a insurance claim & the insurance company creates a hassle, you can use the camera footage for a claim, proof in court...

    Hope the info helps.. ::T

    I agree. Insurance claim, accident review, etc are some of the benefits claimed. However from what I see, a single camera facing forward through the windshield helps only in a full frontal incident. Sideswipes and rear endings will not be captured. You will need cameras on facing all four directions here. :)
    I wish I could get some of the dashboard information such as speed and the current gear, on the screen itself.

    @ atulalvenkar: I had edited out the audio :wink:
    Well I didn't notice the absence of Swifts, probably due to the fact that traffic was less and I was going through the sub roads.

    @ NAREN64: I guess the credit goes to the Punto suspension and proper mounting on the windshield. It cost me about 4.8K including shipping and handling. If you get directly, it should cost only about half as much and for this money you can get the HD version :)
