Hello Guys....I want to buy a brand new Punto 2012 in red color.....So I visited a nearby showroom to buy this....When i reached there, the showroom guys told me that I have two options....The first option is that I can buy a new Punto 2012 emotion 75 bhp with an ex showroom price of 6.93 lakhs. The other option is that they have a 2011 model emotion pack 75 bhp in their showroom with an ex-showroom price of 6.43 lakhs....This car is about 6-8 months old but brand new.....I am confused now.....Does 2011 Punto had some issues which have been corrected in 2012 model of both are the same.....Please advice guys....Cheers Parag..

Buy 2012 model, if price is not a constraint. Always better to buy newer cars.

However if you decide to buy older, make sure to verify the car to your satisfaction, so that not to regret afterwards.

As such there are no issues which got 'corrected' in 2012 Punto. It just recieved a ground clearance upgrade, new color and a new interior fabric etc.

The 2011 Emotion is the 2012 Dynamic model. So factor that into the calculations.

The dealer is not giving a good deal on the 2011 model. I would think about the 2011 only if i had a deal at ~6 lacs OTR.

Go for the 2012 Emotion Punto. In Oceanic Blue. ;)

EDIT - The 2012 models feature a re-designed AC system as well. I just rememberd the FIAT CEO telling that.

Changes from the 2011 model are cosmetic except for the GC increase in the 2012 model, IIRC.
Better always to go for the 2012 model and you can even look for the regular 90BHP.

IMO go for 2012 model otherwise the bargain for the 2011 model its not a good deal....

Ask if they have a 2011 model 90HP for 6.93 or less Ex-Show room price. If yes, I suggest you better go for 2011 90HP than 2012 Emotion. Good Luck.

hmmm...i agree.....6.43 lakhs is too much for 2011 model......but if they give it for 6 or less than 6 ex-showroom, then i think i shud go ahead.....but i also feel that in 2011, AC cooling was a very common problem.....and Ground Clearance is not a problem i guess.....its pretty ok....wht say

Issue of Ground clearance is depending on the region you live... For me its not at all an issue...as Roads in Gujarat and specially in Ahmedabad is so good that I am not thinking about GC upgrade in near future even though its available now at Rs.15K... dont go for 75BHP EPK Punto of 2011 at 6.43L... ask them if they can offer you 90BHP Punto of 2011 in 6.43L... or else go for 2012 model...

AC cooling is also not at all a problem for me in my 2009 November Model Punto Emotion, may be dark films are helping me to keep the cabin cool....

    IMHO, Preference list

    Pref.1) 2011 Model 90 HP @ 6.25 to 6.5 Lac max
Pref.2) 2012 Model 75 HP Emotion @ whatever best price you can get
    Pref.3) 2011 Model EPK @ 5.75 to 6.1 Lacs max

Negotiate with the Dealer to low down the price for the 2011 model, by saying him the features that are present in the 2012 model so that he will be well aware that you have good knowledge of the car.
main thing is that if you are gng for the 2011 model, get the PDI checked Thoroughly.
